Winifred is a graduate of Latta High School, a former student of Mrs. Nancy Brigman, and also a former “Miss Latta.” Winifred serves as the pianist for the University of South Carolina.
During the evening an auction was held with Dan Nance as auctioneer. Board members are responsible for auction items which included an Off-Shore Fishing trip, hand painted note cards, jewelry, a gift certificate for a dinner for eight, gift baskets, flower baskets, cakes, art prints, historical items such as a U.S. Navy Sacrament Plate dated 1944, and an original Harper’s Weekly with all issues from the year 1900.
Proceeds from this event provide six scholarships to Francis Marion University for Seniors at Dillon High School, Lake View High School, and Latta High School. Francis Marion matches these scholarships, thereby giving students additional financial assistance.
The Board of Directors of CIS would like to thank everyone who helped make the evening a success for education in Dillon County.
