Latta Seniors Group Serves Christmas Meal To Less Fortunate

By Betsy Finklea

A hot Christmas meal served up with a generous helping of Christian love, kindness, and generosity—that’s what the less fortunate people in the Latta community got at a special lunch by the Latta Senior Citizens group on Christmas Day. [slide]

Guests were greeted with a warm “Merry Christmas” as they entered the Latta Community Center, which was decorated festively for the season. The room was filled with scents of the traditional holiday meal with all of the fixings. Helpers had on Santa hats  and big smiles. Guests were given a take-out plate on which to serve their dinner and could eat in or take the meal with them.

Sounds of laughter, good conversation and fellowship filled the room. Lunch, which began at 12 noon, was still being served at the time of this report.

When departing the event, guests were given a bag of fruit to enjoy.

The Latta Senior Citizens group meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Latta Main Street Arts Center, behind the gazebo, on Main Street from 9 a.m.-12 noon. All senior citizens are invited to participate. Edna McClam is the director.
