Arrests Made In Truck Driver Shooting Case

Two arrests have been made in a truck driving shooting in July, according to Detective Jason Turner of the City of Dillon Police Department.
Police have a 16-year-old juvenile in custody in Columbia charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy.
A 17-year-old, Jackie Johnson, Jr., 220 Cherry Street, Dillon, has also been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy. At the time of this report,  he was still being held at the Dillon County Detention Center.
The incident occurred on July 21st around 2 a.m. between Hampton and Calhoun Streets on S. Railroad Avenue,  according to a report by Cpl. Crystal G. Norris of the City of Dillon Police Department.
The victim, a truck driver from Blackville, SC,  stated that he was asleep when someone knocked on the door of his truck.
He went to the door and the suspect a black male between the ages of 19 and 28, asked if he knew where a certain motel was. The suspect then “pulled a gun and shot at the victim through the window.“
The victim was struck by the bullet.
The victim was responsive when taken away by EMS.
The victim’s mother told The Herald that his son was also with him on the tractor-trailer at the time of the shooting.
