Reserve Deputy Discovers Burglary In Progress, Two Suspects Arrested

Two men were arrested on Friday after a reserve deputy who was serving papers caught them breaking into a home. According to Detective Cliff Arnette, between 11:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. on Friday, Reserve Deputy Mitchell Gardener was on Catfish Church Road serving papers in the area. He saw a suspicious vehicle and went to check on it and came up on a burglary in progress. The two suspects, who were in the residence, fled and ran into the woods. Law enforcement eventually apprehended the two suspects. Arnette said the suspects, Stephen McCormick, age 26, of Latta, and Rocky Lee Caulder, age 30, of Aynor, are charged with burglary and grand larceny. Arnette said the Latta Police Department and the Dillon Police Department assisted the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
