Craven Coolidge Rice, age 86, of Lumberton, NC died on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County, NC on June 17, 1924 to Woodie A. and Bertie Mercer Rice.
He previously worked forty years as a truck driver for Modern Gas Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Thompson Rice; three brothers, Talmadge Rice, Wilton Rice and Leroyce Rice and a sister, Barbara Rose Hill.
Mr. Rice survived by a son, Chris Rice and wife Terri Lynn of Lumberton, NC; one daughter, Myra Rice Musselwhite of Lumberton, NC; two brothers, Clarence Rice of Lumberton, NC and Lattie Rice of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Helen Beasley of Lumberton, NC; and three grandchildren, Lindsay Musselwhite, Sheridan Rice and Dylan Musselwhite.
A Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating. Burial followed the service in Phillips Family Cemetery.
Visitation was on Sunday evening, August 1, 2010 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
