Joe L. Abbott, 80, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Dillon County, SC, October 24, 1929, he was the son of the late John Abbott and Lillian Lane Bailey. He was a member of Latta Baptist Church, and retired from Dixiana Mill after 38 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Abbott of Marion; daughters, Ellen (Michael) Hearne of Florence and Joanne (Bobby) Buchanan of Garden City; son, James (Kathy) Abbott of Kailua, Hawaii; step-daughters, Sylvia (Mike) Bass of Dillon and Barbara (Chris) Bridges of Little River; step-sons, Jerry Beckwith of Dillon and Mitchell (Joann) Beckwith of Warsaw, NC; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Abbott.
