Rogers
Mrs. Sarah David Rogers, 97, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
A funeral service for Mrs. Rogers will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, Bennettsville, SC.
Burial will be in the Dudley-Drake Cemetery at Blenheim, SC. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Burroughs-Cooper-Kiser Funeral Home, Bennettsville, SC.
Born July 2, 1912 in Marlboro County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice McQuage David and was the widow of John Benjamin Rogers.
She grew up in Williamsburg County and was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Flora Macdonald College.
She taught school in Williamsburg County and Lower Marlboro High School at Blenheim.
Survivors include: Sally (Curt) Rogers McSwain of Minturn, SC, William (Linda) Benjamin Rogers of Bennettsville and Walter (Brenda) David Rogers of Blenheim, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a brother, James K. David of Ft. Myers, FL.

Snipes
Mr. Lloyd Snipes, 93, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in McLeod Medical Center – Dillon. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon.
Funeral services are at 3:00 PM Friday, May 21, 2010 in Pyerian Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, directed by Kannaday Funeral Home.
Mr. Snipes was born in Dillon County on June 30, 1916 a son of the late Walt and Maude Lee Snipes. He was married to Mrs.Vera Lee Byrd Snipes and was a farmer and member of Pyerian Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Byrd Snipes, sons Nelson (Vickie) Snipes of Dillon, Harold (Jean) Snipes of Latta, Willie (Nancy) Snipes of Dillon; daughter Vonnie Snipes of Dillon and sister Bertha Bailey of Dillon, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Snipes was predeceased by 2 sons, Robert Snipes and Jerry Snipes, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Guy L. Townsend, Sr.
Services for Guy L. Townsend, Sr. were held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Townsend, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon after a long illness. Born in Lake View, SC, November 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Joel and Elizabeth Barber Townsend.  He retired from the U. S. Army having served during World War II, and received the Purple Heart from injuries he received in the war.  He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for many years and served as a sunday school teacher, and was a member of the Board of Trustees.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy S. (Dot) Townsend of Dillon; children, Debbie Hayes, and Jan McKenzie, of Dillon; Guy L. Townsend, Jr. of Mullins and JoAnn Bosco of East Granby, Connecticut; sister, Jeri T. Clark of Mt. Pleasant; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
