Governor Appoints Randy Grimsley As New Coroner

By an executive order on December 9th, Governor Mark Sanford has appointed Randy Grimsley as the Dillon County Coroner.

The office was vacant due to the death of Grimsley’s father, Dan Grimsley.

The order states:

Executive Order No. 2009-21

“WHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the office of Dillon County Coroner as a result of the death of Daniel G. Grimsley; and

“WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of South Carolina is authorized to appoint a Coroner in the event of a vacancy pursuant to Sections 17-5-50 and 4-11-20 of the South Carolina Code of Laws, as amended; and

“WHEREAS, Carl Randy Grimsley, residing at 300 Deerwood Avenue, Dillon, South Carolina 29536, is a fit and proper person to serve as Dillon County Coroner;

“NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the Statutes of this State, I hereby appoint Carl Randy Grimsley as Coroner of Dillon County until the next general election before the next general election and until his successor shall qualify. This appointment shall be effective immediately.

“Given under my hand and the great seal of the State of South Carolina, this 9th Day of December 2009.”
