Wildcats Down Blue Jackets 66-56

The Dillon Wildcats opened region play with a 66-56 road win over the Aynor Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

Coach Mike McRae said the Wildcats had a 21 point lead in the fourth but only hit three of 14 free throws in the quarter to allow Aynor to gain some ground. McRae said it’s the best team Aynor has had in the last 10 years, but the Wildcats managed to hold off their advance to retain the win.

John Caulder led the Wildcats with a team-high 19 points and Jalik Bethea added 15 in the win. Olajuwan Fenton scored 10; Breon Page, 7; Shaqui Cabbagestalk, 5; Maurice Williams, 4; Anthony Blue, 3; Jaquan Knowlin, 2; and Gabriel Salmon, 1.

The Wildcats improved to 9-5 overall with the win and are now 1-0 in Region 8-2A.

This Friday, January 11, Dillon will host Mullins at 6:00 p.m. The Auctioneers were 9-3 as they returned from the holiday break, and McRae said he expects it to be a good game. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
