Lake View Shuts Out Blackville-Hilda 25-0 in Round One

Lake View’s Wild Gators defeated Blackville-Hilda 25-0 on Friday night in the first round of SCHSL Class A Division II Playoffs.

Lake View’s record improves to 6-5, while Blackville-Hilda’s falls to 6-5.
Lake View will face Cross in round two this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Cross High School.

Cross defeated Denmark-Olar 34-0 on Friday. Cross has an 8-3 overall record this season and is the number one seed in the lower state bracket.

Elsewhere in the Division II playoffs, sixth seed Scott’s Branch defeated third seed Whale Branch 60-40 and second seed Timmonsville defeated seventh seed Bethune-Bowman 30-8. Scott’s Branch and Timmonsville are scheduled to face each other on Friday for a spot in the lower state final.

In the upper state, Christ Church defeated St. Joseph’s 54-14 and Fox Creek defeated Southside Christian 41-21 to set up a meeting between Fox Creek and Christ Church this Friday. Christ Church is the number one seed in the upstate.
Third seed Great Falls fell to sixth seed McCormick 27-13, and second seed Williston-Elko shut out Ridge Spring 50-0.

Class A, Division I

In Class A Division I, Abbeville defeated Lewisville 55-13 and Landrum shut out Calhoun County 38-0, while Ninety-Six defeated Lamar 34-9 and Chesterfield defeated East Clarendon 63-22. Abbeville will host Landrum and Chesterfield will host Ninety-Six on Friday.

In the Division I lower state playoffs, Bamberg-Ehrhardt defeated Estill 40-14; Ridgeland shut out Johnsonville 14-0; Burke shut out St. John’s 22-0; and Hemingway defeated Carvers Bay 21-6. Bamberg-Ehrhardt will host Ridgeland and Hemingway will host Burke this Friday.

Class AA, Division I

The top four seeds in the Class AA Division I lower state playoffs all received a bye, so number two seed Dillon did not play on Friday. The Wildcats will be back in action this Friday, along with first seed Hanahan, Swansea, and Loris.

In the first round, Lake City shut out North Charleston 55-0 and will move on to face Hanahan; Timberland shut out Kingstree 49-0 and will face Loris; Manning defeated Edisto 8-6 and will face Dillon; and Wade Hampton shut out Stall 21-0 and will face Swansea.

Dillon will host Manning this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Manning is the 10th seed team and has a 6-5 record. Dillon remains undefeated this season.

In the upper state, Woodruff, Cheraw, Strom Thurmond, and Pendleton all received byes. Newberry defeated Palmetto 41-21; Gilbert defeated Crescent 49-22; Keenan defeated Broome 21-14; and Emerald defeated Eau Claire 40-6.

Class AA, Division II

The top four seeds in both brackets all received byes, including Central, Chesnee, Mid-Carolina, and Columbia in the upper state and Bishop England, Marion, Woodland, and Silver Bluff in the lower state.

Ninth seed Liberty shut out eighth seed Indian Land 21-0 in round one of the upper state playoffs. Saluda defeated Andrew Jackson 33-10; Carolina defeated Buford 43-13; and Lee Central defeated Batesburg-Leesville 29-12.

In the lower state, Barnwell defeated Waccamaw 36-6; Andrews shut out Pelion 44-0; Mullins shut out Academic Magnet 47-0; and 11th seed Aynor defeated sixth seed Garrett 32-12.

Class AAA

In Class AAA’s lower state playoffs, A.C. Flora defeated Crestwood 46-14; Socastee defeated Berkeley 41-7; Marlboro County defeated Brookland-Cayce 21-16; Cane Bay defeated Wilson 42-16; Myrtle Beach defeated Hilton Head Island 64-16; Airport defeated Lakewood 24-21; Bluffton defeated Georgetown 69-29; and Hartsville defeated Dreher 41-6.

In the upper state, Fairfield-Central defeated Greer 24-21; Seneca defeated Eastside 43-6; South Pointe defeated Union County 41-7; Greenville defeated Belton-Honea Path 34-15; Daniel shut out Travelers Rest 46-0; Nation Ford defeated Clinton 35-28; Wade Hampton defeated Pickens 42-21; and York defeated Blue Ridge 44-34.

Class AAAA Division I and II playoffs are scheduled to begin on Friday, November 11.
