Lady Warriors End Week of Losses with Second Win

Dillon Christian Schools Lady Warriors earned their second win of the season against Carolina Academy on Friday following a close loss to Robert E. Lee and losses to Marlboro Academy and Florence Christian.

In their final game before Christmas break, the Lady Warriors fell to Marlboro Academy 46-23. Marlboro outscored Dillon 10-3, 8-4, and 20-8 in the first three quarters with each team adding eight points in the fourth.

Lauren Lee led Dillon Christian in the loss with a team-high 12 points that included four two-pointers and four of six free throws. Lee made two rebounds and five steals with four turnovers in the game.

Amanda Bass added six points for the Warriors, with three two-point goals, one rebound, five steals, and nine turnovers. Emily Prutzman scored four points with two two-point goals, 10 rebounds, and one steal. Kathryn Brown added one point from a successful free throw, with seven rebounds and a turnover. Kylee Sullivan made two rebounds, two steals and a turnover; Courtney Miller grabbed one rebound; and Hailee Keen made one steal.

The Lady Warriors returned to action on Tuesday, January 3, for a close game against Robert E. Lee Academy. The first quarter ended with the Cavaliers ahead 5-4, and they widened the gap 7-2 in the second for a 12-6 lead at the half. But the Lady Warriors returned to the court in the third to outscore the Cavaliers 14-4 for a 20-16 lead heading into the fourth. But Dillon Christian couldn’t quite hold onto the lead as the Lady Cavaliers rallied to go 11-4 in the fourth for a 27-24 win.

Bass led DCS with a team-high 10 points, including one three-pointer and three of seven free throw attempts. Bass also grabbed two rebounds and made five steals and six turnovers. Lee added eight points for the Warriors which included a three-pointer and one of four free throws, grabbing five rebounds and three steals, and earning one assist with eight turnovers.

Sullivan and Prutzman each contributed three points, each sinking a two-pointer and going 1-for-1 on free throws. Sullivan grabbed eight rebounds with two assists, four turnovers, and a steal, while Prutzman picked up a team-high 14 rebounds with one steal and two turnovers.

Brown grabbed 10 rebounds with one successful block, a steal, and a turnover, and Miller made two rebounds with Keen getting one.

On Thursday, the Lady Warriors traveled to Florence Christian and fell 59-28 to the Eagles. Florence outscored Dillon in every quarter, going 20-9, 10-2, 15-10, and 14-7 for the win.

Lee again led the Warriors with a team-high 17 points that included two three-pointers, three of nine free throw attempts, and four two point goals. Lee made four steals, with two rebounds, two assists, and six turnovers.

Prutzman added six points with a team-high 13 rebounds and one steal. Brown earned three points with eight rebounds, a block, and a steal. Sullivan scored two points, with five rebounds, a steal, an assist, and five turnovers. Miller made one steal in the game, and Keen grabbed one rebound.

Finally, on Friday, the Lady Warriors were victorious as they defeated Carolina Academy’s Bobcats 33-25. DCS outscored Carolina 6-2 and 6-4 in the first two quarters for a 12-6 lead at the half. They added 11 points in the third to lead 23-10, and despite a 15-10 rally from Carolina in the fourth, the Warriors took the win.

This time, Sullivan led the charge with 11 points that included one three-pointer and four two point goals. Sullivan grabbed nine rebounds with four steals, two assists, and two turnovers. Lee earned 10 points in the win with two three-pointers and four of five free throws. She grabbed one rebound and three steals and made one block, one assist, and two turnovers.

Bass contributed six points to the win with two two-point goals and two successful free throws. She made eight steals for the Warriors with two assists, three turnovers, and one rebound. Brown added four points with 10 rebounds, four steals, and two assists, and Prutzman earned two points with a team-high 15 rebounds and three assists. Miller grabbed three rebounds and Keen picked up two.

The Lady Warriors improve to 2-11 overall and are now 1-4 in SCISA Region 4-AA.

Dillon Christian was scheduled to take on Lake View last night and will host Trinity Collegiate tonight beginning with junior varsity action at 4:00 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
