Lady Vikings Defeat Trojans, Warriors To Retain Top Spot in Region

Latta’s Lady Vikings added two more wins this week in girls basketball action.

On Friday, January 25, the Lady Vikings defeated the Trojans 53-18 on the road at Green Sea-Floyds. TaKeria Legette led the Vikings with a team-high 23 points.

Latta picked up another win at home on Tuesday night as they defeated the Creek Bridge Warriors 53-24.

The Vikings took a 16-2 lead in the first and outscored the Lady Warriors 12-5 in the second to lead 28-7 at the half. Latta outscored Creek Bridge 23-17 in the second half to secure the win.

Jessica Evans scored a game-high 15 points to lead Latta in the win and TaKeria Legette added seven. Mallory Townsend and Kierra Johnson each scored five; Tamera Campbell, Tianna Deberry, and Maya Wright each added three; and Madelia Johnson, Brittany Burgess, Michia Johnson and Iyonna McKenzie each contributed two points in the win.

Shayla Graves led Creek Bridge with a team-high seven points with Whitney Green and B. Brockett each adding four. Akeya Lakin and Jada Gause both scored two for the Warriors.

Latta improves to 14-2 overall and remains undefeated in Region 8A at 7-0.

The Lady Vikings will play their final home game of the season this Friday at 6:00 p.m. when they host Hannah-Pamplico. On Tuesday, February 5, Latta will travel to Johnsonville to take on the Lady Flashes, and on Thursday, the Lady Vikings will travel to Lake View to wrap up the regular season against the Lady Wild Gators. All three varsity games begin at 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local teams!
