Pastor Appreciation Day Observed At East Dillon Baptist Church

By Mary Miller
Sunday, August 7 was “Pastor Appreciation Day” at East Dillon Baptist Church. Members took their favorite dishes and desserts for a feast to celebrate the 11th Anniversary of Pastor James S. Smith and his wife “Miss Connie.”
Pastor James has been preacher, teacher and friend to our congregation and to the community since arriving in Dillon eleven years ago. Not only is he passionate and knowledgeable in his delivery of God’s word to us in his straightforward manner, he does so with the feeling of love, concern and respect.
Whether he’s ministering in church, in the hospitals, on the streets, or anywhere you might meet him, Pastor James will greet you with a big smile and a positive attitude. He continually reassured his congregation, visitors and even strangers that God loves them, and he does, too.
“Miss Connie,” who has the voice of an angel herself, is the church choir director. Under her capable leadership, the choir performs beautiful selections for praise and worship. She is also among the many talented members of East Dillon Baptist who perform the special music at worship services.
Members will agree, without hesitation, that eleven years is not near long enough, and pray that God will bless Pastor James, Miss Connie and East Dillon Baptist Church with a long and fruitful relationship.
