The Dillon County 4-H Shooting squad consisting of Samuel Coleman, Cole Anders and Joshua Price won 2nd place in the Jr. 1 Division of the South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundations (SCYSF) sporting clay shoot held at Live Oaks Shooting range in Swansea, SC on January 18, 2013. This was the largest youth shoot ever held in the State of South Carolina. There were 441 registered shooters competing in the event grouped into 154 squads. The 1st place team in this division was the Live Oaks team who were shooting on their home range. There were 9 different divisions in the competition.

The Dillon County 4-H shooting sports club had 10 members compete in the event which was the 2nd SCYSF sporting clay shoot of the season. The first event was at Harris Springs but was limited to 180 shooters and not all teams were able to compete. Changes were made so that all teams were able to attend the event at Live Oaks. Other shooters from the Dillon County 4-H team were Huston Hamer, Alex Watson, Myers Hamer, Darby Hamer, Cole Gasque, Daniel Camp, and Cooper Lane.

The Dillon County 4-H Shooting Sports Club has been practicing at The Dillon County Rifle and Gun Club and has received support from Friends of NRA to help offset cost of supplies. The club will attend the next competition at Mid Carolina Gun Club in Orangeburg, SC on Feb 9th.
