Dance Dimensions Has Successful Competition Season

The Dancers In 3D competition teams of Dance Dimensions prove that hard work and diligence really pays off. This year’s competition season consisted of many overall and specialty awards for the dancers. The teams attended two regional competitions as well as a national competition. The dancers began their competition season by attending Dance Machine Productions in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. They then attended a dance convention and competed at Southern Council of Dance Masters Chapter 44 Performing Arts Competition in Myrtle Beach, SC. They finished up their season by attending Dance Machine Productions national competition held in Wilkesboro, NC.
The Senior Troupe’s jazz routine that was choreographed by Sherrie Adams titled ‘The Ring’ received a high platinum, 2nd overall, and Best Choreography Award for the age 13 and over routines at the Dance Machine Productions regional competition. The girls won a high gold, 3rd overall, and the Most Original Award in the age 13 and over routines at SCDM Performing Arts Competition. At Dance Machine Productions nationals they received a platinum and 6th overall. The senior tap routine to “Let the Groove Get In”, choreographed by Miss Sherrie, won platinum and 8th overall at the Dance Machine Productions regional competition. They received a gold and 5th overall at SCDM. At Dance Machine Productions nationals they won a platinum and 3rd overall. The senior lyrical number was choreographed by Jodie Peele Branham to “Dead in the Water.” At Dance Machine Productions regional competition they won a high platinum and 1st overall. At SCDM they received a platinum, was division winner in the age 13 – 14 groups, and 1st overall in the age 13 and over group routines. At the national competition they received a high platinum and 3rd overall.
The Junior Troupe’s jazz routine to “Shake Senora” was choreographed by Miss Jodie. At the Dance Machine regional competition it won a platinum, 6th overall, and a Bravo Award. The routine then won a high gold, division winner in the age 9 – 10 groups, and 1st overall in the 12 and under groups at SCDM. At the Dance Machine national competition they won a platinum and 5th overall. The junior tap routine choreographed by Miss Sherrie titled “Distortion” won a high gold at the Dance Machine regional competition and a high gold and 4th overall at SCDM. At Dance Machine Productions nationals they received a high gold and 7th overall. “Let It Be”, the junior’s lyrical routine that was choreographed by Miss Sherrie won a high gold and 8th overall at the Dance Machine regional competition. At SCDM it won a gold and 8th overall. At the national competition the lyrical number received a platinum and 3rd overall.
The mini troupe’s tap routine to “Material Girl” was choreographed by Miss Jodie. They won a platinum and 1st overall at the Dance Machine regional competition. At SCDM they received a high gold, division winner in the age 7 – 8 groups, and 1st overall out of the age 12 and under large groups. The minis then won a platinum, 1st overall, and a Bravo Award at nationals. The group was then named the Petite Grand National Champions for having the highest score out of all the petite small, large, and super groups. Miss Sherrie choreographed the mini jazz routine to “Looking Good Feeling Gorgeous”. The group won a high gold and 3rd overall at the regional competition for Dance Machine. At SCDM they received a high gold and 3rd overall. The dancers won a platinum and 3rd overall at the national competition. “Firework”, their lyrical routine choreographed by Miss Jodie received a high gold and 5th overall at the Dance Machine regional competition. They then received a gold a SCDM and a platinum and 4th overall at the national competition.
Fallon Adams competed in the lyrical, vocal, and photogenic categories. Her lyrical routine, “Nothing but the Water” was choreographed by Miss Jodie and won a high platinum, 7th overall, and a Bravo Award at the Dance Machine regional. She also qualified as a semi-finalist to compete for the title of America’s Teen Miss Dance at nationals. Her vocal performance “Paris” won a high platinum and 3rd overall. Her photogenic entry won a high platinum and age 13 and up overall photogenic champion. She was also chosen to participate inAmerica’s National Dance team that performed several times during the national competition. At SCDM her lyrical routine won a platinum, was age 15 – 16 division winner, and 2nd overall out of the age 13 and over solos. At nationals she received a platinum, a Bravo Award, and 9th overall for her lyrical number. Her vocal performance received a high platinum and Teen Vocal Champion. She received a high platinum and two diamonds for her photogenic entries. She also won awards in interview, stage presence, solo, and was 3rd runner up in the pageant.
Kaleigh Alford competed with a lyrical routine to “If No One Will Listen” choreographed by Miss Sherrie. At the Dance Machine regional she won a platinum and qualified to compete for America’s Junior Miss Dance. She then won a platinum, age 11 – 12 division winner, and 2nd overall out of the age 12 and under solos. At nationals she was awarded a platinum.
Alex Brumble competed with a tap routine choreographed by Miss Sherrie to “Express Yourself”. She received a platinum at the Dance Machine regional and a high silver at SCDM. She also qualified as a semi-finalist to compete for America’s Teen Miss Dance at nationals. Alex then competed at Dance Machine Nationals where she received a high platinum and 6th overall.
Makayla Ellison competed with a lyrical routine to “Papa Can You Hear Me”, choreographed by Miss Jodie. At the Dance Machine regional competition she received a platinum, a Bravo Award, 1st overall, and qualified as a semi-finalist for America’s Petite Miss Dance. At SCDM she won a gold. She received a platinum and 4th overall at Dance Machine Productions nationals.
Cassidy Haselden competed with a lyrical routine choreographed by Miss Sherrie to “Mirror Mirror”. She received a high gold at the Dance Machine regional. At SCDM she won a high gold and 6thoverall. At the national competition she received a platinum and 12th overall.
Hannah Mumford competed with a jazz routine to “Sassy” that was choreographed by Miss Sherrie. She won a high gold at the Dance Machine regional and a high silver at SCDM. At Dance Machine nationals she received a high gold.
Jessica Perry’s jazz routine was choreographed by Miss Sherrie to “Oh Mama Hey”. At the Dance Machine regional competition she received a high gold. She also won a high silver at SCDM and a high gold at nationals.
Miss Jodie choreographed a musical theater number for Kaleigh and Rebecca Alford to “Any Thing You Can Do I Can Do Better”. At the regional Dance Machine competition they received a high gold, a Bravo Award, and 1st overall. They then competed at SCDM where they received a high gold and an award for Best Choreography out of the age 12 and under duets and trios. At the national competition they received a high gold and 5th overall.
[slide] This year will mark Dance Dimensions’ 24th year enriching children’s lives through the art of dance. The students are instructed by Sherrie Adams who is the owner and director, Jodie Peele Branham who is also a former student as well as a public school dance educator, and visiting instructor Byron McDaniel who is also a former student who dances professionally for various cruise lines. The studio offers instruction in tap, ballet, jazz, clogging, acrobatics, hip-hop, and pointe and accepts students ages three years old and up.
