Thanks for the heads up! This sweepstakes scam is prevalent again and you’re right. People should not easily give out any information especially when you did not initiate the call.

It’s always better to skeptical and cautious about over-the-phone transactions than to be sorry later on.

If Dillon had a reasonable rental car location, I wouild get off Amtrak in Dillon instead of in Florence (where I always have to pick up a car in Florence and drive back to Latta/Dillon).

April 22, 2011 – I would like to make a monetary contribution in the name of Deputy McDaniel for this event. Deputy McDaniel responded to a call for assistance me and my sister Rose Marie Godfrey who lives on Slabtown Road/The Quarters in Sellers, SC on April 12th.

Even though Deputy McDaniel was given inaccurate information regarding the location of our home, he determined the correct address and location and responded in a timely manner, allayed our concerns and patrolled the area regarding our and our neighbor’s complaint.

The “complaint” was that 2 women (a woman in her 60s and a young lady in her 20s) had worked their way down to Slabtown Road/The Quarters from 301 in Sllers, after attempting going from house to house stating that they were “stranded” and was looking for a ride back to …

When they saw my car in front of the house and approached my sister’s house and tried to enter the gate without an invitation, they asked who the car belonged to. My sister asked them “why?” and they stated that they were “stranded” and wanted a ride back … My sister informed them that the car belonged to me and said “sorry, but no we cannot help” and that we did not know them and asked them how did they get stranded; where did they come from; and where were they going — they never answered her. After directing them to call the local police to tell him/her of their troubles, they proceeded to walk back uptown to 301 in Sellers.

As I informed Deputy McDaniel — Slabtown Road/The Quarters from the railroad track to the end where Bright Light Church ends, has only 9 house on the Dillon County line and 5 houses on the Marion County line. Of these houses, there are 8 households with 3 senior citizens, 8 households with disabled individuals and these individuals are at a disadvantage with their infirmities and being more vigilante to their well-being should not be an extra burde in trying to cope with their disabilities
