State Farm Honors First Responders With Breakfast And Free Home Security Device

First responders are the first people called into action when public safety is threatened, especially during catastrophic events like last year’s Hurricane Florence.
State Farm and Canary recognize the safety of their families is a significant concern for first responders.
To show their appreciation, State Farm and Canary created the Protect the Protectors campaign with the goal of providing access to technology for these dedicated public servants, to help them stay connected while they are protecting our communities.
Since the launch of the campaign in December 2015, more than 15,000 Canary home monitoring devices have been donated by State Farm and Canary to first responders across the country.
Local agent Brian Edwards and staff were on hand to present the devices and thank first responders at a appreciation breakfast on Wednesday.
The device alerts the user to monitor motion, air quality and temperature changes through the use of an app.
In January, a similar event was held for Darlington County First Responders.
Within a week of installing his device, Darlington County Firefighter Travis Amerson was alerted to a burglary attempt at his home that he was able to stop, so these devices really help bring peace of mind to these community heroes.
