Rev. John Moody, Sr.

FUQUAY-VARINA—Reverend John (Jack) Moody, Sr. entered into eternal rest early Friday morning November 22, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born in Dillon, South Carolina on December 20, 1924 to Joseph and Sadie Moody.

After receiving his theological degree from Southeastern Baptist Seminary he pastored churches in North and South Carolina including; Second Baptist Church, St. Pauls, N.C., Baptist Grove Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and retiring from Green Level Baptist Church, Apex, N. C. The passion of his life was saving souls to the Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to his pastorates through his evangelist ministry he preached in over 100 churches The theme of his 35 years of ministry was “There’s Room at the Cross for You.”
Rev. Moody served on the U.S.S. Sederstrom during a tour of duty in the South Pacific and honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1945. He was also a life member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Mackey Lodge 77 in Dillon, South Carolina.
Operating his HAM radio was one of the joys of his life. For over 50 years he enjoyed talking with his HAM buddies across the world. Music was always an important part of his life and he was a talented guitarist. “Dixieland” was a special favorite. His other hobbies included, surf fishing, golf and wood working.
A service of worship and remembrance was held from the Baptist Grove Baptist Church, 6140 Christian Light Road, Fuquay-Varina, on Tuesday, November 26th at 2:00 p.m. The family received friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. Entombment will take place at a later date.
Rev. Moody is survived by his loving wife and “sweetheart” of 71 years, Catherine C. Moody; four children, Kathy and special friend Gary Jones, Danny, John and Janet Moody, all of Fuquay-Varina.
