Latta Softball Gets Win
Arica Gandy allowed only 3 hits struck out 6, and did not walk anyone in Latta’s 14-0 win over Hannah-Pamplico at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, in Latta in playoff action.
Latta connected for 11 hits.
Latta picked up 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning scoring the first run on a Jayla Jackson ground out.
Latta pounded 11 hits and 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Latta’s Jena Stutler had 2 doubles, a single, 4 rbi, and scored 2 runs in the game. Jesselyn Bryant had a double, a single, and a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Kaleigh Caulder had a doublel , 2 rbi, a walk, and scored 2 runs in her 4 plate appearances. Lauren Webster had a double, a walk, 2 rbi in her 3 plate appearances. Jayla Jackson had a single, a rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Kaylah Davis had a single and scored 2 runs in her 2 at-bats. Rayne Nolan had a single and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Riana Green had a double, 2 rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 3 at-bats. Arica Gandy had a walk in her 3 plate appearances. Taryn Weatherford scored a run in the game.
Hannah-Pamplico’s M.K. Fauklenberry, A. C. Stone, and Kenley Daves each had a single in each’s 2 at-bats.

She pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 5 hits, struck out 1, and allowed 4 earned runs. Jordyn Hudson pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and allowed 6 runs that were not earned.

Latta Baseball Picks Up Victory
The Latta Vikings picked up an 8-3 win over Woodland in Latta on Saturday, April 27, in varsity baseball playoff action.
Latta had 9 hits in the game and held Woodland to 4 hits.
Latta picked up a run in the bottom of the second inning when Parker McCormick singled and added another run in the same inning to lead Woodland 2-0. However, Woodland responded with a run of their own in the top of the third inning.
The Vikings wasted little time in placing 2 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning to go up 4-1. The score remained that way until Latta added 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Woodland fought back and scored 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Chase Mishue had 2 singles, 2 rbi, 1 walk, and scored a run in his 2 at-bats for Latta. Dylan Brewer also connected for a double, a single, and scored 2 runs in his 4 at-bats. Noah Henderson had a single, a rbi, and scored a run in his 1 at-bat. Peyton Benson had a single and a rbi in his 2 at-bats. Parker McCormick had a single, a rbi, and scored a run in his 3 at-bats. Deonte’ Stanley had a single and scored a run in his 4 at-bats. Trey Anderson had a single and scored a run in his 3 at-bats. Chandler Nolan had a rbi and scored a run in his 2 at-bats. Jamison Herring scored a run in his 2 at-bats.
Woodland’s D. Nelson had a single, 2 rbi, and scored a run in his 3 at-bats. J. Pilch had a single and scored a run in his4 at-bats. G. Pendarvis and D. Pendarvis each had a single in each’s 3 at-bats. G. Greer garnered a walk an scored a run in his 3 plate appearances. T. Hilton garnered a walk in his 3 plate appearances.
Peyton Benson picked up the win for Latta. He pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 2, struck out 7, and allowed 3 runs of which 1 was earned. Chase Mishue came in relief and retired the last batter with a strike out.
J. Pilch took the loss. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 9 hits, walked 2, struck out no one, and allowed 8 runs of which 4 were earned.
Latta committed 6 errors in the game. Woodland was guilty of 5 errors.

Lady Gators Win
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 7 runs in the bottom of the second inning to hand Scott’s Branch a 18-0 loss in the run-ruled 3-inning varsity softball playoff game played in Lake View on Saturday, April 27.
Scott’s Branch was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in inning 1-2-3.
Lake View’s Baxleigh Arnette hit 1 to left and scored!
Scott’s Branch was plagued with error after error in the game.
Lake View’s Raven Locklear picked up the win. She pitched 2 innings. Grace Floyd pitched the final inning.
Lake View’s Grace Floyd pitched the third inning.

Wildcats Win
The Dillon Lady Wildcats handed the visiting Wade Hampton varsity softball team a 13-0 loss in Dillon on Thursday, April 25.
Dillon’s Monazia Sowells quickly retired the Wade Hampton ladies in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the first inning to set the stage for the game.
Dillon’s Nyeisha Wilson garnered a lead-off walk and wasted little time in scampering to second with a stolen base. Monazia Sowells hit a sacrifice hot one to the short stop to advance the runner to third. Abby Bristow hit one to center for a single and a rbi to give Dillon a 1-0 lead that would prove to be all Dillon needed on the evening. However, that was not to be the case. Bristow quickly stole second and scored on a passed ball on a throw to third. Qyeisha Wilson scored on a passed ball at home. Skyler McCoy garnered a walk as did Jayla Goodwin. Logan Grice hit a fielder’s choice to third and was safe at first. After one inning of play, Dillon was up 3-0. Wade Hampton’s Andrea Thompson punched one to second and arrived at first on an error. Wade Hampton’s #11 hit one to second and was out at first. Sowells then retired the next 3 batters.
Dillon’s Jenascia Lester garnered a lead-off walk in the bottom of the second inning. Nyeisha Wilson hit a grounder to third to place runners on the corners. Monazia Sowells hit one to left for a double and 2 rbi. Abby Bristow hit one to left for a triple and a rbi. Qyeisha Wilson was hit by a pitch. After 2 innings of play Dillon was up 7-0.
Sowells once again retired the side, 3 up, 3 down.
Dillon’s Lexie Rogers garnered a lead-off walk to begin the bottom of the third inning. Jenascia Lester hit one to third and arrived at first on an error. Monazia Sowells hit a hot one to the short stop who committed an error, and the bases were loaded. Qyeisha Wilson hit one deep to left for a triple and 2 rbi. Qyeisha Wilson scored on a passed ball to give Dillon a 11-0 lead after 3 innings of play.
Sowells retired the first 2 batters before Wade Hampton’s #5 arrived at first on an overthrown ball to first. #11 connected for a single on a grounder between first and second. Sowells retired the next batter on a strike-out.
Dillon’s Anasha Graves hit one to the short stop for a single. Skyler McCoy hit one to short right for a single and a rbi. Dillon’s #9 hit one by first base for a single and a rbi. After 4 innings of play, Dillon was up 13-0.
Charlotte Sellers came in relief in the top of fifth inning. She retired the first batter she faced with a strike-out. Wade Hampton’s #15 hit one up the middle for a single. Sellers then proceeded to strike out the next batter she faced. Wade Hampton’s #14 arrived safely at first on a throwing error. Sellers then struck out the next batter.
Dillon traveled to Hanahan on Saturday, April 27.
