Panthers Outscore Wildcats To Get Baseball Win

The Lake City Panthers outscored the Dillon Wildcats 6-2 in varsity baseball action played in Lake City on Friday, March 29.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning. Lake City placed a run on the scoreboard. However, Dillon responded with 2 runs in the top of the fourth inning. Lake City tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth and 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lake City’s Hilshon had 2 hits and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats while Hanne and Austin Montgomery each connected for 2 hits in 3 at-bats.
Jay Lester and Noah Carter each garnered 2 hits in 3 at-bats. Austin Tyndall and Ahmari Huggins-Bruce each had a hit in 3 at-bats.
Jakeim Herring picked up the win. He pitched 7 innings and allowed 5 hits, 2 runs of which 1 was earned, walked no one, and stuck out 6.
Noah Carter was charged with the loss. He pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed 6 hits, 6 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 5, and struck out 6.
Dillon is 2-6 for the season and 2-4 in Region 6-3A.
Dillon will host Cheraw in a doubleheader today (Tuesday, April 2) with game 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Dillon Memorial Stadium.
