Wildcats Fall In Close Game To Cheraw

Dillon Wildcats dropped a close 7-5 decision in varsity baseball to the Cheraw Braves on Monday, March 25, in Cheraw.
Dillon drew first blood with a run in the top of the first inning. Cheraw added a run of their own in the bottom of the second inning. Dillon placed 2 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning that was answered by Cheraw with a pair on runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Cheraw scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead. Dillon added a run in the top of the fifth inning and another run in the top of the sixth inning to cut Cheraw’s lead to 1 run. Cheraw added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Cheraw managed 13 hits in the game while holding Dillon to 5 hits.
Dillon’s Ja’Teil Lester managed a double, a single, and 2 rbi in his 2 at-bats. BoBo McKinnon and Ahmari Huggins-Bruce each picked up a rbi on 1 hit in 2 at-bats. Tristan Brigman picked up a rbi in his 4 at-bats.
Cheraw’s Gordon had 2 hits and a rbi in his 4 at-bats. McKenny Goodale had a double and 2 rbi in his 4 at-bats. Tegan Griggs had 2 hits in his 3 at-bats. Thurman connected for a double and a single in his 4 at-bats.
Hunter picked up the win for Cheraw. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 3. Jonathan Gordon picked up a save. He pitched 2 innings, and allowed a hit, no runs, no walks, and struck out 4.
Windham was charged with the loss. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 12 hits, 6 runs of which 5 were earned, walked 5, and struck out no one.
Dillon committed 2 errors in the game while Cheraw committed 3 errors.
Dillon is 1-4 for the season and 1-3 in Region 6-3A.
Cheraw is 8-4 for the season and 3-1 in Region 6-3A.
Dillon will travel to Waccamaw today (Thursday, March 28) for a 6:30 p.m. game.
