PHOTO GALLERY: Latta Baseball Team Loses Heartbreaker To East Clarendon

The Latta Vikings lost a heartbreaker 5-3 to the visiting East Clarendon Wolverines on Friday, March 29, in Latta in the last inning of the game.
Latta took the lead in the bottom of the third inning on a Dylan Brewer solo home run that sailed deep over the fence in right center field. The Wolverines knotted the score at 1 in the top of the fifth inning. The Vikings regained the lead with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Wolverines knotted the score at 3 in the top of the seventh when D. Hancock singled scoring a run to take the lead. The Wolverines added another insurance run also in the seventh inning.
East Clarendon’s K. Odom connected for a double, a single, and scored 2 runs in his 3 at-bats. G. Barrineau singled, picked up a rbi, and scored a run in his 3 at-bats. D. Hancock singled and picked up a rbi in his 3 at-bats. M. Coker singled and picked up a rbi in his 4 at-bats. C. Cook singled in his 4 at-bats. A. Singletary scored a run in his 2 at-bats.
Latta’s Chase Mishue doubled, singled, and picked up 2 rbi in his 4 a-bats. Dylan Brewer hit a solo home run, garnered 2 walks, picked up a rbi, and scored a run in his 4 plate appearances. Deonte’ Stanley singled and scored a run in his 4 t-bats. Hunter Sawyer doubled in his 3 at-bats. Nate Lee garnered a walk in his 2 plate appearances. Parker McCormick scored a run in his 2 at-bats.
Dylan Brewer was charged with the loss. He pitched 7 innings and allowed 6 hits, walked no one, struck out 9, and allowed 5 runs that were not earned.
J. Evans picked up the win. He pitched 7 innings and allowed 5 hits, walked 3, struck out 2, and allowed 3 earned runs.
Latta committed 4 errors, and East Clarendon committed 1 error.
