Services for Sophia Marilyn Stack Gandy will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bethesda Southern Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gandy, 82, died Friday, March 1, 2019 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born in Dorchester County, SC, March 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Tullie Stack and Margaret Louise Mount Jackson. She was a member of Latta Baptist Church. Sophia was a seamstress, former owner of a dress shop in Latta, and also retired from Dillon Yarn.
Survivors include her husband, Aaron Gandy of Latta; children, Marilyn Brenda Lane (Terry) of Latta, Theresa Nichols of Myrtle Beach, Aaron Gandy, Jr. (Julie) of Florence, Aric Gandy (Angie) of Latta, and Cassandra Yvette Marshall (Kevin) of Tallahassee, FL; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Katie Stevens (Larry) of Blythewood; half-brothers and sisters, Purvis Jackson, Bunny Hawkins and Stevie Jackson.
Mrs. Gandy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michaela Gandy.
