Lady Vikings Hand Loss To Johnsonville
The Latta Lady Vikings handed visiting Johnsonville a 67-29 loss on Tuesday, January 15, in varsity basketball.
Moya McDuffie led the scoring with 18 points with three 2-point baskets, one 3-point basket, and 6 free throws. Ri’Anna Green who added 14 points. Kadaisha Wheeler placed 10 points on the scoreboard, and DeKhasia Green placed 7 points there. Dasha Burdshall scored 6 points, and Rayne Nolan connected for 5 points. Adaya Gordon added 4 points, and Ke Asia Delrey had 3 points.
T. Nesmith led Johnsonville with 14 points followed by N. Graham with 9 points. T. Timmons added 4 points, and N. Verner connected for 2 points.
Latta committed 8 fouls in the first half and 7 fouls in the second half. Johnsonville committed 7 fouls in the first half and 6 fouls in the second half.

Lady Wildcats Get Win Over Cheraw
The Dillon Lady Wildcats returned home on Tuesday, January 15, with a 75-21 win over Cheraw in varsity basketball action.
Dillon jumped out to an early 27-7 lead after the first period of play and continued scoring. By halftime, the Lady Wildcats held a commanding 45-11 lead. After 3 periods of play, Dillon was up 59-19.
Dillon’s Jykya Bell scored a game-high 28 points. She sank eleven 2-point baskets and was perfect at the free throw line with 6 points with 6 attempts. Chyna Pouncey added 13 of which she hit five 2-point shots and sank 3 of 4 free throws. Shantazia Gordon added 12 points in the win by hitting six 2-point shots. Maleah Carter and Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon each had 6 points while Andrianna Ervin and Lane each had 4 points. Lacy Simmons placed 2 points on the scoreboard for the Lady ‘Cats.
Callie Bryant led Cheraw with 14 points. She hit three 2-point shots and 5 of 8 free throws. A. Jackson added 3 points, and D. Brown and B. Helms each connected for 2 points.
Dillon is 7-0 and 3-0 in Region 6-3A.
Dillon committed 3 fouls in the first half and 6 in the second half. Cheraw committed 5 fouls in the first half and 8 in the second half.

Hemingway Deals Loss To Lake View
Hemingway dealt visiting Lake View a 64-48 loss on Friday, January 18, in varsity basketball action.
Hemingway led by 15 points, 25-10 after the first period of play. By halftime, Lake View had cut the lead to 11 points, 36-11. After 3 periods of play, Hemingway led 48-35.
Jameaine Washington led Hemingway with a game-high 18 points. Aaron Parker added 12 points. Taylor connected for 6 points, and Cooper added 5 points in the game. Green added 3 points, and Singletary added a point to the scoreboard.
Lake View’s Tieray Blue scored 15 points, and F. Reaves added 9 points. Inman connected for 8 points. Ford and Bullock each added 4 points. Wheeler and Gilchrist each placed 2 points on the scoreboard.

Lake View Wild Gators Get Win Over Hemingway
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators returned home on Friday, January 18, with a 54-42 win over Hemingway in varsity basketball action.
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators held a 14-3 lead after the first period of play. By halftime, Lake View had increased the lead to 15-point lead, 31-16. After 3 periods of play, Lake View led 43-25.
Lake View’s Milashia Wheeler and Ja’Niyah Waters each scored a game-high 15 points. G. Page connected for 7 points while Ford and McNeil each added 6 points. Page placed 2 points on the scoreboard.
Hemingway’s Brianna Williams scored 10 points while Scott added 9 points. Smith connected for 7 points, and Dollard and Burrows each had 5 points. Johnson added 2 points, and Cantey and Graham each placed on point on the scoreboard.

Latta Suffers One-Point Loss To Loris
The Latta Vikings varsity basketball team suffered a 1-point, 65-64, loss to the Loris Lions on Friday, January 18, in Kingstree.
Latta held a 17-11 lead after the first period of play. By halftime, Latta held a slim 2-point, 26-24 lead. After 3 periods of play, Latta was up by 7 points, 52-45.
Kingstree Lion’s Direlle McGee scored a game-high 30 points. N’Chez Alston added 14 points . James had 9 points in the game, and Swinton had 8. Faulton placed 5 points on the scoreboard.
Latta’s Deonte Stanley had 21 points, and Darius McRae added 16. Nasir Sellers connected for 11 points. Miles added 3 points, and Roberts and J. R. McClam each scored a point.

Latta Lady Vikings Get Win Over Kingstree
The Latta Lady Vikings returned home Friday, January 18, with a 49-29 win over Kingstree.
The Lady Vikings found themselves down by 4 points at the end of the first period. However, the Lady Vikings picked up 17 points in the second period to take a 7-point lead into the locker rooms at halftime. In the third period Latta outscored Kingstree by 11 points to increase the lead to 18 points.
Latta’s Ri’Ana Green connected on five 2-point baskets and 3 free throws for 13 points to lead her team in scoring. Moya McDuffie was right behind with 12 points of her own. Adaya Gordon added 8 points, and Rayne Nolan and Kadaisha Wheeler each had 5 points. DeKhasia Green placed 4 points on the scoreboard, and Katie Bracey added 2 points.
Z. Burgess lead Kingstree with 13 points. K. Mentions added 8 points. Y. Gamble placed 4 points on the scoreboard, and K. Houston and A. McKnight each had 2 points in the game.

Dillon Lady Wildcats Gets Win Over Loris
The 9-0 Dillon Lady Wildcats added another win, 47-21, on Friday, January 18, while visiting the Loris Lady Lions.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats led 13-8 after the first period of play. By halftime, Dillon was up 7 points, 22-15. After 3 periods of play, Dillon led 34-17.
Dillon’s Jykya Bell scored a team-high 17 points of which she connected for seven 2-point baskets and 3 free throws. Chyna Pouncey added 11 points. Shantazia Gordon connected for 7 points, and Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon added 6 points. Alyse Hines, Maleah Carter, and Shaniya Page each placed 2 points on the scoreboard.
Loris’ Corteria Chestnut led the scoring for her team with 7 points. Ariyana Hayes added 5 points. Tajada Jeaste, Jallyssa Bellamy, and Ty Anna Green each scored 2 points.
Dillon committed 8 fouls in the first half and 7 fouls in the second half while Loris committed 3 fouls in the first half and 8 fouls in the second half.

Dillon Wildcats Suffer Heart-Breaker Loss
The Dillon Wildcats returned home Friday, January 18, after suffering a 2-point heart-breaker loss to Loris, 57-55, in varsity basketball action.
Dillon led 11-7 after the first period of play. Dillon had a 13-point, 28-15, at halftime. By the end of the third period, Loris had cut the lead to 6 points, 44-38.
Dillon’s Zy’Aire Charles led Dillon in scoring with 18 points followed by Corrian Wright who added 13 points. Ladson added 8 points while Brantley added 6 points. Green and McKinnon each had 4 points. Greer placed 2 points on the scoreboard.
Dillon is 5-7 for the season and 2-2 in Region 6-3A.

Warriors Knock Off Cavaliers
The 1A Dillon Christian School Warriors knocked off the visiting 2A Robert E. Lee Cavaliers 58-20 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Friday, January 18.
The Warriors held a 14-0 lead after the first period of play. By halftime the Warriors were up 32-9. The Dillon Christian continued to pour on the scoring n the third period of play.
Dillon Christian School Warriors’ Phillip Campbell scored a game-high 12 points, and Chad Dubose and Jacob Dubose each added 11 points. Ian Bethea scored 10 points while Chen scored 5 points. Brown added 4, Bailey added 3, and Walt Bailey added 2 points.
Robert E. Lee’s S. Hodge connected for 5 points while Olson added 4 points to the scoreboard. Freidenberger had 3 points, and Hall, Atkinson, and McGee each had 2 points. Adelman and Johnson each contributed a point in the game.

Lady Cavaliers Get Win Over Warriors
The 2A Robert E. Lee Lady Cavaliers returned home Friday, January 18, with a 52-45 win over the 1A Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors in a varsity basketball game played in Dillon.
The Lady Cavaliers held a 9-point, 21-12, lead over the Lady Warriors after the first period of play. By halftime, Dillon had cut the lead to only 3 points, 27-24. However, after 3 periods of play, Robert E. Lee held a 13- point, 45-32 lead over Dillon.
Robert E. Lee’s Caleigh Barrett scored a team-high 20 points and 17 rebounds while Rebecca Dinkins contributed 18 points and 7 rebounds. Shannon placed 5 points on the scoreboard, and E. McCutchen scored 4 points. A McCutchen also added a point.
Anna Thompson led the Lady Warriors with 21 points, and Taren Dubose scored 10 points. Lizzie Outlar added 9 points, and Sarah Freeman and Sara Stone each had 2 points. Audrey Polverari contributed a point.
