Vikings Send Wildcats Home With Loss

The Latta Vikings sent the Dillon Wildcats boys varsity basketball team home with a 60-52 loss on Wednesday, January 9.
Latta controlled the tip-off and managed to get an early lead while Dillon got off to a slow start but never gave up.
Latta led 18-9 after the first period of play. Latta held a 10-point, 29-19, lead at halftime. After 3 periods of play Latta was up 43-34.
Latta’s Darius McRae scored 15 points in the game while Trey Miles and Nasir Sellers each connected for 14 points. Deonte Stanley sank 12 points of which 2 came on a slam-dunk in the final moments of the game. JR McClam had 3 points, and Jamario Taylor added a point.
Zy’Aire Charles led the Wildcats in scoring with 12 points, and Wright added 7 points. Green and Porter each had 6 points. Alford added 5 points to the scoreboard while McKinnon connected for 4 points. Reaves and McDowell each had 3 points, and Cabbagestalk placed another point on the scoreboard.
Dillon committed 8 fouls in the first half, and Latta committed 9 fouls. In the third period of play Dillon committed 4 fouls while Latta committed 7 fouls.
Latta will travel to Johnsonville today (January 15) while Dillon will travel to Cheraw.
