The Latta Lady Vikings returned home Friday, January 11, after losing to East Clarendon 56-32 in varsity basketball action.
The Latta team found themselves trailing by 3 points, 8-5, after the first period of play. By halftime, East Clarendon had doubled the scoring of Latta, 28-14. At the end of 3 periods of play, East Clarendon was up 46-25.
East Clarendon’s Talaysia Cooper placed 28 points on the scoreboard in the win followed by Ramsey Floyd and Britni Anderson with 12 each. Nakendra McGheon scored 4 points. Latta’s Moya McDuffie connected for 13 points, and Ri’Ana Green added 12 points. Adaya Gordon placed 4 points on the scoreboard, and Dasha Burdshall placed 3 points there.
Latta committed 4 fouls in the first half and 2 fouls in the second half while East Clarendon committed 2 fouls in the first half and 7 fouls in the second half.
Latta is 6-5 and 3-3 in Region 7-2A.
Latta will host Johnsonville today, (Tuesday, January 15). East Clarendon will travel to Andrews today also.
