Stephanie Jane Flaherty Parham

DILLON – Stephanie Jane Flaherty Parham was born August 19, 1937, in Greensboro, NC, the daughter of the late Earl Vaughn Flaherty and Juanita Tyree Flaherty. She died Friday, January 11, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House of the Pee Dee.
Stephanie graduated from Greensboro High School. She attended Converse College with a degree in Psychology & History where she was on the Dean’s List. She worked for Eastern Airlines in Atlanta and Charlotte. After, she then worked for Phillip Morris Research Center in Richmond, VA. Here she roomed with three ladies; two of which graduated from Converse College as well.
Stephanie’s friend, Mitzi, introduced her to John Manning Parham, Jr. and was married in 1963. She then worked as a dental assistant to her husband and after taught second grade in the Dillon School System. Stephanie was an antique dealer for retail and to the trade. She bought & shipped items from England and sold in Latta, SC, Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC, and Atlanta, GA.
Stephanie was a member of the Etudier Club, St. Eugene Hospital Auxiliary, Glove & Trowel Garden Club, PTA, and served as a member of the S.C. Arts Commission. She was also a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Stephanie also took part in a six-year study at the Medical University of South Carolina involving a new drug (Solanezymab) to treat Alzheimer’s disease.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, John Manning Parham, Jr.; daughters, Christian CeFaire Parham Arnette (Coney Bruce) and Kathryn Ashley Parham Aytöre (Batu); grandsons, John Ashby Arnette, William Henderson Arnette and Christian McLean Arnette; and niece, Karen Lester Hughes. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Gray Flaherty Rosenthal.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the service at the family’s home, 1400 Parham Place, Dillon, SC 29536. A private committal service will be held in Magnolia Cemetery. Kannaday Funeral Home is assisting the family in Dillon, SC.
