Mary Jones Berry, 88, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at The Manor.
She was born in Dillon, SC, a daughter of the late Charlie Randolph Jones and Hattie Morris Jones. She was also predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Wright Berry; three brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Berry worked for 25 years as a secretary in the Florence School District 1 office. She also worked for 5 years in the Dillon School District. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1964, where she served as the secretary of the church library. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she loved cross stitching and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Rudy A. Berry (Jenny A.) of Florence and James R. Berry of Murrells Inlet; four grandchildren, Michael A. Berry, Jolie B. Deaton (James), Christina B. Howard (Scott) and Dennis R. Berry; six great-grandchildren, Chelsea Berry, Ella Pegg, Maylee Pegg, Austin Howard, Caleb Howard and Kayden Upchurch; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019, in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family received friends from 10 until 11 a.m., just prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Latta, SC.
