A local veteran, Robert Nance, is seeking help to pay for backup generator for his at-home dialysis treatment.
On his “GoFundMe” page, Nance wrote the following:
“This is probably the most difficult thing I’ve written. You see, I am in need of a kidney transplant, and I need to let my friends and family know about my condition. I am a Vietnam Combat Veteran, and volunteer with the (DAV) Disabled American Veteran as a service officer and attend a local church. Recently, I have had to start dialysis, and perform dialysis at home 4 days a week. I’m hooked up to the machine for three and a half hours. Being on dialysis is physically and emotionally draining and it keeps me from doing the thing I love most, like spending time with my family and being active in the community. I am asking for your help in raising funds for a backup generator. Power outage is the most common type of utility disruption. Sudden power outages can be frustrating and troublesome, especially when they last a long time. Dialysis machines need power to run. Most people, like myself, do not have backup generators. As a Vet, the VA covers a lot of the medical expenses, but they will only pay for a portion of the expense of a generator. And this is where your help comes in. I would greatly appreciate your financial assistance towards helping me to purchase a generator for my at -home dialysis treatment. Thank you for your support and concern, Recipient – Robert Nance”
