City Of Dillon Encourages Local Shopping With SHOP SMALL Saturday

By Betsy Finklea
The City of Dillon held their first annual SHOP SMALL Saturday this past weekend in support of small, local businesses in the Main Street area and in the community.
Shoppers checked in at the tent on Main Street where they received a SHOP SMALL tote bag, a passport which one had stamped at the stores that they visited, and a map showing participating stores.
Participating stores had blue and white balloons out front to show that they were participating in the event.
Shoppers had the option to visit local businesses who were participating in the event. Participating businesses included ACE Hardware, Angie’s Florist, Family Sport Center, Gigi’s and Docs, Hi-Lites, Parisii Boutique, Telisha’s Tees, Alexis Reid Hair Salon and Merle Norman Cosmetics, and The Framer’s Market.
Many of these businesses had specials related to the event, and many also served refreshments for shoppers.
When one completed the passport, one received an entry for a drawing, and if one produced receipts of money spent at these local businesses of a certain amount, then one received another entry.
One shopper commented that she had visited businesses that she had never been to before, but that she would definitely be visiting again.
The event gave small local businesses a chance to show what they have to offer.
