Latta Community Thanksgiving Service Held

The Latta Community Thanksgiving Service was held on Wednesday, November 14th at the Ellis Performing Arts Center sponsored by the Latta Ministerial Association.
The evening opened with a prelude by the Rev. Dr. Eugen Bach of Latta Presbyterian Church on piano and the Rev. Mike Rouse of Latta United Methodist Church on guitar.
The invocation was given by the Rev. Leonard Simmons of Weston Chapel AME Church. This was followed by the call to worship for the Weston Chapel AME Church Choir, and the welcome by Dr. William Walker of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
The Rev. Rob Pierce of Latta Baptist Church led the hymn, “We Gather Together.’
The responsive reading, Psalm 145, was led by Rev. Rouse. The offering was collected, and the hymn, “Come Ye Thankful People Come,” was sung.
This was followed by special music from the Weston Chapel AME Church Choir.
A prayer of Thanksgiving and Illumination was given by Rev. Rouse.
The Rev. Steven Tyler of Sardis Baptist Church gave a moving and stirring sermon on Revelations 7: 9-15 and the topic of “Giving Thanks For Unity.”
The hymn, “Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart,” was sung led by Rev. Rouse.
Rev. Walker gave the benediction.
All left blessed with the spirit of Thanksgiving.
