McCoy Chapel Holds Women’s Day Program

McCoy Chapel United Methodist Women at McCoy Chapel UMC, Little Rock held its Women’s Day program recently.

The guest speaker was Rev. Lois Bright. Rev. Bright’s message was focused on Psalm 91:1-16 titled “The Umbrella Anointing.”
She indicated that we should live under the umbrella of God’s obedience. Some of the umbrellas in our lives are: God, the Word, government, church, church leadership, husbands, and parents. Lois and her husband, Rev. Leon Bright, relocated to Dillon, her hometown after retirement. She is serving in various capacities and fulfilling several leadership roles at the Hamer Church of God. Mary Kathy Harley received the Special Mission Recognition award for her faithfulness and joy in serving on several committees in the church.

Marion District United Methodist Women President Jane Crawford attended the program.
BreAsia McLean, a freshman student at South Carolina University, and Miguel Bethea, a freshman student at Benedict College, were the recipients of an academic scholarship. BreAsia is the daughter of Falisha Jackson and the late Ben McLean. Miguel is the son of Clarissa Bethea and the late Marlon McColl. The recipients wrote an essay about women that have been an influence in their lives. BreAsia wrote about Kadra McQueen Wright and Miguel wrote about Clarissa Bethea. The McCoy Chapel Unit of United Methodist Women are proud of these students.
