James “Jim” Donald Wright, 80, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Carolina’s Hospital System in Florence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home with burial in Kemper Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Gastonia, NC, June 20, 1938, he was the son of the late James Robert Wright and Grace Little Wright. He was a member of Kemper Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Brotherhood President and on the Kemper Church Choir and Lake View Community Choir. He was active with the South Carolina Pee Dee Baptist Association Disaster Relief. Jim was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran where he served as a Medic.
Jim retired from American Truetzschler (A German based textile machinery manufacturer) after 15 years where he served as their Personnel Manager. He served on the Marion-Dillon County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs for 5 years and worked in Customer Service and Sales for 14 years at Scientific Products. He also served as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PTA President from 1986-1987.
