Joe Price Speaks To Brotherhood Group About Loss

The Mount Calvary Brotherhood, WMU, and BYU met on Monday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Calvary Baptist Family Life Center for an evening of fellowship and learning the Word.
After having a delicious barbecue meal with all the trimmings and desserts, the groups dispersed to each location.

Brotherhood Director Joe Price was the guest speaker.
With Hurricane Florence bearing down on the coast, Price inquired “How many and how much can be lost?”
As a young person who is 19, 20, or 21, most feel invinsible. In fact, I (Joe Price) did at that age. Price recalled losing a brother at that age and believed that could not happen to him. For 28 years he lived with that belief.
At the age of 28, God saved him while he was singing in the choir at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
“How many people attend church just because they are supposed to be at church?”
Joe recalled that his Father was not the spiritual leader of their family. In fact, today, more and more men are stepping aside and allowing women to take over not only at home but everywhere else.
In Matthew 6:19-21…Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Price remarked “Wherever one’s passion is, that is where that person will be.”
Price said that he had witnessed those who profess to be saved and were baptized but never or maybe once or twice returned to the place where that person was baptized.
Twelve years prior to Price’s 28th birthday, God called him but he did not respond.
The Holy Spirit must draw one to God. One can not just go to God without being called.
When Price was saved, the Holy Spirit filled his life.
When good things happened in Price’s life, he knew where the goodness originated…from God, of course.
When people offer accolades to Price, he does not want them for himself. He wants the glory to go to God.
No one comes to the Father but through Jesus.
Price recalled a few years ago that prayer was removed from the ball games. However, we made a way to have prayer. Every prayer was ended in “In Jesus’ name”.
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located at 405 Mount Calvary Road, Dillon.
Pastor Harold Cooke and the entire congregation invites you to attend and receive a blessing.
