Mrs. Rachel Marie Cook Brooks, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the ElmCroft Assisted Living Facility in Florence after an illness.
Born in Dillon County, SC, on October 7, 1943, Rachel was the daughter of the late Hiram Cook and Mary George Cook of Dillon. She was a member of the Hamer Church of God, and was the widow of the late Andrew Murdick Brooks. Mrs. Rachel enjoyed spending time with family, listening to Gospel music and decorating for Christmas.
She is survived by her three loving daughters; Angela Elliott and her husband, Darryl of Florence, SC, Shannon Watts, and her husband, Kenny of Darlington, SC and Stacey Newton and her husband, Ben of Belmont, CA; grandchildren, Nicholas Elliott, Gwyneth Newton, and Everette Newton; two brothers, Hiram Cook and his wife, Jean of Dillon and Jesse Cook and his wife, Alice of Dillon.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon, with her funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum, Highway 301 North in Dillon.
In addition to her parents and husband listed above, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Cook Rogers of Charleston, SC.
