PHOTO GALLERY: Lake View High School Ready To Meet Challenge With Young Team

From the start it appears that this year is quite different from last year when it comes to the Lake View Wild Gators football team.
The Lake View Wild Gators will open at home on Friday, August 17, as they do battle with Hannah-Pamplico.
Lake View’s 11-year head coach Daryl King who has 20 years of coaching experience knows he and his coaching staff have their work cut out for them this season beginning with the season opener.
Coach King has won 85 and lost only 40 games during his career.
The Wild Gators squad lost 11 players from last year’s 9-3 team.
Training someone to fill the key position of quarterback is a tough job for Coach King and his staff. Also, the team is lean in the offensive line. Although, the team has some young players who are working very hard and are showing some promise in these positions.
Lake View has good running backs and linebackers and also has some JV kids who should be able to produce right away.
Deonte Roberts will return after amassing over 800 yards in receptions last year. He averaged over 24 yards per catch.
Benji Kelly will return as running back. He rushed for over 1,100 yards last season.
Tieray Blue had 140 tackles last year. He, too, will return at linebacker.
“We will continue to play Lake View football”, quipped Coach King. “We will utilize the same offense and defense.”
Coach King also stated that “The team and coaching staff is looking forward to playing football this year. We are young and will have to work hard in lots of areas, but we are looking forward to the challenge.”
Coach King has a well-qualified coaching staff including Johnny Dew, Cloy Ford, Andy Ford, Jeff Ceasar, Larry Inman, and Jonathan Robinson.
And, of course, everyone in Lake View knows team manager Mostiler Rogers. The players and coaches have endured some hot weather this summer during practice. Thankfully the players have shown up about every day and have been putting in some hard work in preparation of the upcoming season.
