According to the June minutes, “The State Accommodation Tax recommendations were presented to Council for approval. City Manager Glen Wagner reported that five entities had asked for funds but only four (4) were awarded. The Dillon Historic School Foundation had a request but the committee agreed that they needed to be up and running and not use the funds for repairs. The recommendations were as follows: City of Dillon Recreation, $10,000 for outdoor movie nights and St. Patrick’s Day event; Dillon County Theatre, $20,000 for production and maintenance; Dillon County Historical Society, $4,000 for repairs; Pee Dee Tourism, $10,000 for brochures for tourists. The total amount is $44,000. Councilman Phil Wallace made a motion to approve the Accommodations Tax recommendations as presented. Councilman Johnny Eller seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.”
