Dr. Smith Awarded Health Care Provider Of The Year

Dr. Stephen Smith has been awarded the 2018 Health Care Provider of the Year by the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association at their annual Clinical Retreat in Charleston, South Carolina. The award recognizes the exemplary efforts by the provider in a community-based health care setting.
Dr. Smith was recognized for his immensely positive impact on those afflicted by the opioid epidemic in the Pee Dee region. He has been driving force in CareSouth Carolina’s efforts to treat opioid addiction using Medication-Assisted Treatment. Under his leadership, approximately 453 patients received much-needed treatment through their Medication Assisted Treatment Program in 2017. He accomplished this feat while still seeing a full panel of patients and while also holding the title of Chief Medical Officer of CareSouth Carolina.
Smith has been practicing at CareSouth Carolina for 24 years in the Society Hill office. He is known for his gentle and caring manner to his patients and the families in and around Society Hill.
