Lady Vikings Season Ends

The Latta Lady Vikings’ season came to an end with a 3-2 lost to Barnwell in the Class 2A lower state playoffs on Wednesday, May 9, in Latta.
Latta scored first with a run in the top of the first inning, and Barnwell answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning on an error and a double by K. Bridgmon to take a 1-run lead that would hold until Barnwell placed another run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning.
Latta managed to get another run across home in the top of the sixth inning.
Latta committed 4 errors in the game while Barnwell committed only 1 error.
Latta’s Kaleigh Caulder singled and picked up a rbi in her 3 at-bats while Camryn Sawyer singled and scored a run in her 3 at-bats.
Kyra Grant connected for a double and a walk in her 3 plate appearances. Lauren Webster singled in her 3 at-bats, and Jena Stutler garnered a walk in her 1 plate appearance. Madison Owens scored a run in the game.
K. Bridgmon managed a single, a double, and a walk in her 3 plate appearances while A. Still connected for a single and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. M. Williams garnered a single in her 3 at-bats. K. Shuler picked up a rbi and a run in her 3 plate appearances. K. Brown and K. Pridgen each garnered a walk in the game.
K. Brown picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 2, allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned, and struck out 2.
Arica Gandy was charged with the loss. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 2, struck out 3, and allowed 3 runs of which 2 were earned.
The Latta Lady Vikings finished the season with 23 wins and 6 losses and was the Region 7-2A champ.
