Latta Vikings’ Arica Gandy pitched a 1-hit, 11-0 shut-out against the Silver Bluff Lady Dogs on Wednesday, May 2, in Latta.
Gandy pitched 4 innings and did not walk anyone and struck out 3.
Kaley Higgenbottom was tagged with with the loss. She pitched 2 innings and allowed 9 hits, 9 runs of which 8 were earned, walked 1, and struck out no one. Latta committed 1 error in the game while Silver Bluff committed 2 errors.
Latta jumped out to an early lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 7 runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Vikings also added a run in the bottom of the third inning and a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Latta’s Riana Green hit an inside the park home run and picked up 3 rbi in her only at-bat in the bottom of the second inning. Jesselyn Bryant garnered a double, a single, and a rbi in her 2 at-bats while Bailey Wiggins and Kyra Grant each was also perfect at the plate with a double and a rbi in each’s only 1 at-bat. Camryn Sawyer picked up 2 rbi and a hit in 2 at-bats. Latta traveled to Barnwell on Saturday, May 5.
