DCS Golf
The DCS Golf Team traveled to Dusty Hills Golf Course in Marion for a region match-up hosted by Pee Dee Academy. DCS posted a second place finish behind Trinity-Byrnes Academy. The team scores were Trinity Byrnes-168, DCS- 170, Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach-187 and Pee Dee- 237. DCS individual scores were Ross Carlyle-41, Hunter McDuffie-43, Ryan Stephens-42, Mason Bailey-49, Connor Collins-44 and Landon Buck-48.
Myrtle Beach for a region match-up hosted by Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach. DCS posted a second place finish behind Trinity-Byrnes Academy. The team scores were Trinity Byrnes-151, DCS- 175, Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach-203 and Pee Dee- 273. DCS individual scores were Ross Carlyle-42, Ryan Stephens-42, Hunter McDuffie-43, Mason Bailey-50, Connor Collins-48 and Landon Buck-55. DCS is currently in second place in points behind Trinity-Byrnes with 1 region match and the Region Tournament left in the season.
The top 2 golf teams in the league standings will make the SCISA State Tournament to be held on April 23-24 at Hackler Golf Course on the campus of Coastal Carolina.

Latta Loses To Sumter
The Latta Vikings suffered a 14-2 loss to Sumter in the 10-rule, 5-inning game in varsity baseball action played in the Southeastern Baseball Classic at Hartsville on Wednesday, April 4.
Sumter jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning while scoring on an error and a fielder’s choice.
Sumter seemed to overpower Latta as they managed to place 7 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning on singles by J. Pererra, J. Houshour, and D. Thomas, a walk by J. Hollaory, and an error on a ball hit by T. Yates. Sumter added 4 more runs in the bottom of the third inning while Latta was unable to muster any offense until the top of the fourth inning and made timely defensive errors.
Sumter only managed 9 hits in the game but scored 14 runs while holding Latta to 5 hits and 2 runs.
Sumter’s J. Houshour connected for 2 singles, a walk, 2 rbi, and scored 2 runs in his 3 plate appearances while D. Thomas garnered 2 singles, 2 rbi, and scored a run in his 3 at-bats. B. Lyows managed a single, a walk, 1 rbi, and scored a run in his 3 plate appearances. J. Bryant managed a single and scored 2 runs in his 3 late appearances.J. Hollaory connected for a dingle and 2 rbi in his 3 at-bats. W. Coker garnered a single, 1 rbi, and scored 1 run in his 3 at-bats. J. Pererra singled, scored 2 runs, and picked up a rbi in his 4 at-bats. T. Yates scored 3 runs in his 3 at-bats. V. Brown scored a run in his 4 plate appearances while K. Hagery also scored a run. McLeod Carmichael led the Vikings with 2 singles in 3 at-bats while Russ Rogers singled in his 2 at-bats. Dylan Brewer singled in his 3 plate appearances. Pierce Watson doubled and scored a run in his 3 at-bats. Cody Anderson and Jordan Hayes each garnered a walk. J. Bryant picked up the win for Sumter. He pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 3, and allowed 2 runs that were earned. J. Sykos pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 hit and struck out 1. Hunter Sawyer suffered the loss for Latta. He pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 2, and allowed 10 runs of which 5 were earned. Chase Mishue pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, struck out 1, and allowed 2 runs that were earned. Peyton Benson pitched 1 inning and allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and allowed 2 runs that were earned.
Latta will host Kinstree on Monday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m. for a double-header.

Latta Falls To St. Ignatius
The Latta Vikings suffered a 4-1 loss to St. Ignatius (Ohio) in varsity baseball action at the Southeastern Baseball Classic at Hartsville on Tuesday, April 3.
St. Ignatius placed a run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning, another run in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, and the final run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Latta’s lone run came in the top of the 5 inning.
Latta committed 5 costly errors in the game while St. Ignatius was guilty of only 1 error.
Latta’s John Malcolm George was perfect with a single in 1 at-bat while Jordan Hayes singled in his 2 at-bats. Hunter Sawyer also singled in his 3 at-bats. Dylan Brewer picked up the only rbi in the game for Latta.
Eyink was perfect at the plate for St. Ignatius with a single and a rbi in his 1 at-bat while Henry managed a single and a rbi in his 2 at-bats. Conway also singled and picked up a rbi in his 2 at-bats. Holdsworth and Eyink each singled in 3 at-bats. Gaich singled in his 4 at-bats and scored a run. McNamara picked up a walk and a rbi plus scored a run while Grosel and Jones each scored a run.
Mulhern picked up the win as he pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 hits, 1 run that was earned, walked 4, and struck out 3. Eyink pitched an inning in relief and struck out 1, did not walk anyone, and did not allow a run. Laguardia also pitched 1 inning in relief. He struck out 2, allowed 1 hit, did not walk anyone, and did not allow a run.
McLeod Carmichael was tagged with the loss. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 6 hits, 4 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 3.
The Latta Vikings will host a double-header against Kingstree on Monday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m.

Latta Suffers Loss To Paul VI
The Latta Vikings, sporting a 6-0 record in conference play in region 7-2A, suffered a 9-2 non-conference loss to Paul VI at the Southeastern Baseball Classic held at Hartsville on Thursday, April 5.
Paul VI took an early 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning. However, Latta placed 2 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first to claim the only lead of the game as Paul VI tied the game at 2 in the top of the second inning and added 2 runs in the top of the third inning, 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning, and 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Latta was held to only 3 hits in the game while Paul VI connected for 9 hits.
Spivey led Paul VI with 2 singles, 2 rbi, and 2 runs scored on 4 at-bats while Zavacky connected for 2 singles and scored a run in his 4 at-bats. Cox also garnered 2 singles and 2 rbi in his 4 plate appearances. Freeborne had a single, a rbi, and scored a run in his 4 at-bats. Barrie also singled and had a rbi in his 3 plate appearances. Smiechowski singled and scored 2 runs in his 3 at-bats. Orr garnered a walk and scored 2 runs in his 3 plate appearances while Otiariano also picked up a walk and scored a run in his 2 at-bats.
Latta’s Deonte Stanley connected for a single, a double, and 2 rbi n his 3 at-bats while Russ Rogers singled and scored a run in his 3 plate appearances. Dylan Brewer garnered a walk and scored a run for the Vikings. McLeod Carmichael and Hunter Sawyer also managed to get a walk.
Lucas Dell’Anno picked up the win. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 hits, 2 runs that both were earned, walked 2, and struck out 7. Coritz pitched 2 innings and allowed 1 hit, walked no one, and struck out 3.
Noah Henderson was tagged with the loss. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 8 hits, 9 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 4, and struck out 5. Chase Mishue pitched 1 inning allowed 1 hit, walked1, and struck out 1.
The Latta Vikings committed 5 costly errors while Paul VI did not commit any errors in the game.
Latta is 9-6 for the season but 6-0 in conference play.
Latta faced Peters Township of Pennsylvania on Friday, April 6, at 11 a.m.

Gators Hand Green Sea Loss
Gators handed Green Sea Floyds a 9-6 loss in varsity basketball action played in Green Sea on Tuesday, April 3, at 5:30 p.m.
Green Sea Floyds placed the first run of the game on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lady Wild Gators did not manage to score until the top of the third inning as they placed 4 runs on the scoreboard. Green Sea Floyds answered with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the third to knot the score at 4.
Green Sea Floyd added a run in the bottom the fourth inning and took a short-lived 1-run lead.
Lake View connected for 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning. Green Sea Floyds placed another run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Lady Wild Gators managed to score 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Green Sea Floyds managed 7 hits while Lake View connected for 12 hits.
Lake View’s Spivey Evans had 2 hits including a home run and 3 rbi in her 5 at-bats while Payton Bell managed 2 hits and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats. Savannah Church picked up a rbi and 2 hits in 3 at-bats while Lindsey Floyd connected for 3 hits and a rbi in 4 at-bats.
Green Sea Floyds committed 4 errors in the game while Lake View committed 2 errors.
Grace Floyd picked up the win for Lake View. She pitched 7 innings, allowed 7 hits, 6 runs of which 2 were earned , walked 3, struck out 5, and hit 1 batter with a pitch.
Davis was tagged for the loss. She also pitched 7 innings and allowed 12 hits, 9 runs of which 5 were earned, walked 4, and struck out 1.
Lake View is 8-1 for the season and 5-1 in Region 6-A.
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators will travel to East Clarendon for a 5:30 p.m. game time on Tuesday, April 10.

Latta Falls To Peter’s Township
The Latta Vikings fell victims to Peter’s Township 7-4 in the last inning of a varsity baseball game played in the Hartsville on Friday, April 6.
The Vikings’ Jordan Hayes singled with 2 runners on base to give Latta a 2-run lead after the first inning. However, Peter’s Township placed 3 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth to take a 1-run lead. The Latta Vikings knotted the score at 4 with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Peter’s Township placed 3 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth to close-out the win.
Peter’s Township connected for 10 hits, and Latta managed 8 hits in the game.
Ehland connected for a single, a double, 1 rbi, and 2 runs for Peter’s Township while Mary garnered a single, a double, and 1 rbi. Levy managed a double and a rbi in 3 at-bats. Comini connected for a single, a rbi, and scored a run in his 4 plate appearances. Ploskina managed a single, a walk, and scored 2 runs in his 4 plate appearances. Boehme singled and scored a run in his 2 at-bats. Campagna singled in 3 at-bats. Caven singled in his 4 plate appearances. Colcombe scored a run in his 3 at-bats.

Latta committed 4 errors in the game while Peter’s Township committed 3 errors.
Closkey picked up the win for Peter’s Township. He pitched 2 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 2, struck out 1, and allowed 1 run that was earned. Thompson pitched 3 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, struck out 4, and allowed 3 runs that were earned. Eddburn pitched an inning and allowed 1 hit. He did not strike out anyone nor did he walk anyone.
Dylan Brewer was tagged with the loss. He pitched 6 innings, and allowed 10 hits, walked 1, struck out 5, and allowed 7 runs of which only 2 were earned.
Latta hosted Kingstree in a double-header on Monday, April 9.

Latta Gets Win Over Andrews
The Latta Vikings returned home from Andrews with a 14-0 win in varsity baseball action played on Tuesday, April 10.
Latta scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning and continued to score.
The Vikings added 2 runs in the top of the second inning, 3 runs in the top of the fourth, 1 run in the top of the fifth inning, and 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Latta pounded 14 hits and committed only 1 error while Andrews managed 9 hits and committed 6 errors.
Latta’s Dylan Brewer connected for a triple, a double, a single, and a rbi in his 4 at-bats while Deonte Stanley garnered a double, a single, and 3 rbi in his 5 at-bats.
McLeod Carmichael picked up the win for Latta. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 7 hits, walked no one, struck out 9, and allowed no runs.
Hunter Sawyer pitched 1 inning and allowed 2 hits, walked no one, and allowed no runs.
Andrews pitched four in the game. M. Jaizell was tagged with the loss. He pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 2, struck out 1, and allowed 5 runs of which 4 were earned. C. Cody pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, struck out 1, and allowed 4 runs of which 3 were earned. J. Brandley pitched 21. innings and allowed 6 hits, walked 1, and allowed 3 earned runs. W. Dawson pitched .2 inning and allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned.
Latta will travel to Marion on Monday, April 16, for a 6:00 p.m. game.

Lake View Edges Out East Clarendon
The Lake View Wild Gators edged East Clarendon 6-5 in an 8-inning game played in Andrews on Tuesday, April 10.
Lake View scored 2 runs in the top of the second inning and added 2 more runs in the top of the third inning and held a 4-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when Andrews connected for 2 runs to cut Lake View’s lead to 2. The Wild Gators added a run in the top of the seventh inning that was answered by 3 runs by East Clarendon in the bottom of the seventh to knot the score at 5. Lake View scored a run in the top of the eight inning when Jett Lewis hit a rbi single to left.
Jett Lewis garnered 2 hits and a rbi in 5 at-bats for Lake View while Johnathan Davis picked up 2 rbi on 2 hits in 4 at-bats. De’Ante Bridgette connected for a home run and a rbi in 3 at-bats.
Noah Feagin was 3 for 4 at-the-plate with 2 rbi for East Clarendon, and Matthew Coker picked up 3 rbi on 1 hit in 3 at-bats.
Lake View committed 2 errors in the game, and East Clarendon committed 3 errors.
Deonte Roberts picked up the win for Lake View. He pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed 1 hit, no runs, walked no one, and struck out 4.
Dusty Hancock was charged with the loss. He pitched 1 innings, and allowed 2 hits, 1 run that was earned, walked no one, and struck out 1.
Lake View will travel to Hannah Pamplico on Tuesday, April 17.
