Charles Herbert Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Latta Baptist Church with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Born in Appalachia, Virginia on September 4, 1932 to Alex and Cynthia Johnson. He served as a Royal Ambassadors Leader and Deacon at Latta Baptist Church for many years. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years and was honorably discharged as a Specialist Third Class. He was a Master Mason, and he worked as a box designer for Packaging Corporation which brought him to Latta, SC over 40 years ago. He married Nancy Neely Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Neely Johnson of Latta; He is also loved and cherished by numerous family members, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his mother and father; his five brothers, Alex Johnson, Jr., James Johnson, Harold Johnson, Earl Johnson, and Earnest Johnson; and his three sisters, Myrtle Fletcher, Catheline Gilbert and Mabel Allen.
