The Latta Vikings picked up a 2-1 win in the final inning over Green Sea Floyds in varsity baseball action played at Green Sea Floyds on Tuesday, February 27.
Both teams exhibited strong pitching as each team’s pitchers struck out 12 batters.
The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Latta managed to get a run across home to take a 1-0 lead.
Green Sea Floyd’s K. Watson doubled to score a run in the bottom of the sixth to knot the game at 1 each.
Latta’s Hunter Sawyer doubled in the top of the seventh and picked up the winning rbi.
Hunter Sawyer started the game for Latta going 6 innings and allowed 1 hit, 1 run, and struck out 10.
C. Barnhill lasted 5 and 2/3 innings and allowed 1 hit and 1 run and struck out 11 for Green Sea Floyds. B. Elliott pitched the final 1 and 2/3 innings.
Chandler Baker connected for 2 singles in 3 at-bats for the Latta Vikings.
Latta’s Dylan Brewer scored a run in the game.
K. Watson managed a single and a double in 3 at-bats to lead Green Sea Floyds while A. Graham doubled and scored a run.
Each team managed 3 hits and committed 2 errors in the game.
Latta will travel to Mullins on Tuesday, March 6.
