Latta School Board: January 2018 Minutes

The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room.
Trustees present were Kyle Berry, Ray George, Vanessa Harrison, Kwame Hennagan, Stuart Poston, Eleanor Powers and JoAnn Williamson.
Chair Kyle Berry welcomed all present and Dr. John Kirby opened with prayer.
There being no corrections or additions to the November 14, 2017 minutes and the current agenda, Chair Kyle Berry ruled that they stand approved.

OLD BUSINESS
A motion was made by Ray George and seconded by Stuart Poston to approve second reading of Policy GCC – Professional Staff Leaves and Absences. Vote was unanimous.

DEPARTMENTAL
BUSINESS
Donna Taylor presented the status reports for October 2017 and November 2017 on the General Fund budget.
An audit update was given by Donna Taylor.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on the next Hall of Fame meeting date.
Debra Morris gave an update on the Latta Middle School Improvement Plans.
Leigh Sloan updated the Board on the Latta High School Improvement Plans.
An update on school facilities and school buses was given by Larry Legette.
Dr. John Kirby reminded Board Members to complete their Ethic Form by deadline.
An update on the safety grant was given by Dr. John Kirby.
Dr. John Kirby announced to the Board that the Francis Marion Education Scholarship was awarded to Chelsey Gaddy.
Eleanor Powers shared the Ellis Performing Arts Center upcoming events with the Board.
Dr. John Kirby stated that the Superintendent’s Evaluation Form will be sent to each Board Member for completion.
Dr. John Kirby updated the Board on the Budget Work Session Plans.

NEW BUSINESS
As a part of School Board Recognition Month, Dillon School District Three Board Members participated in an official signing of the South Carolina School Board Member Ethical Principles.
In observance of School Board Recognition Month, each Board Members was presented a gift certificate to King’s Pizza.
There being no further business, Chair Kyle Berry adjourned the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
