Chairman Johnnie Daniels opened the meeting with prayer.
A $20.00 donation was given.
Twelve members present gave the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
The treasurer’s report was made by Craig Brown. A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer’s report. All present voted to accept.
Chairman Daniels gave a report on the recent Health Fair Event held in October at the City of Dillon Wellness Center.
Discussed having Health Fair for 2018 on a Saturday.
New officers elected for 2018. Cathorine Price was elected Treasurer, Mildred Mishue was elected Vice-President, Johnnie Daniels was elected Chairman/President, and Craig Brown was elected Secretary.
A motion by Chairman Daniels was made, seconded and approved by all present to give $250.00 to the American Legion Hall for the use of their building.
Nell Vincent gave praise to Chairman Daniels’ work with the organization.
Chairman Daniels stated that AARP is donating $500.00 in 2017. Members discussed if there were needy homeless veterans in Dillon County.
Dillon County Veterans affairs Director, Valerie Graves, stated that there were no homeless veterans in Dillon County at this time.
Dillon City Councilman Johnny Eller asked Valerie Graves about the status on a van to transport veterans to the V.A clinics and hospitals.
Attending the meeting was Gregory McFadden who stated he employed drivers to transport people and could be used for transporting veterans if needed.
Chairman Daniels thanked Mildred Mishue for providing food and drinks for the meeting.
Chairman Daniels thanked the American Legion for the use of their facilities.
Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2018.
A motion was made, seconded and approved by all present to adjourn the meeting.
