Pee Dee Academy Hands Loss To DCS
The Pee Dee Academy handed the Dillon Christian School Warriors a 38-24 loss in Mullins on Tuesday, January 16.
Pee Dee Academy held a slim 2-point lead, 8-6, after the first period of play. By halftime, the lead was 21-10.
The Warriors were held scoreless in the third quarter while Pee Dee Academy placed 11 points on the scoreboard. In the last quarter, Pee Dee placed 6 points on the scoreboard while Dillon placed 4 there.
Dillon Christian School was led in scoring by Anna Thompson with 10 points. Samantha Carpenter hit for 8 points, and Lizzie Outlar connected for 4 points. Sara Freeman garnered 2 points.
Lindsay Martin scored a game-high 13 points for Pee Dee Academy while Brown connected for 9 points. Carter managed 8 points while Johnson had 7. M. Martin connected for a free throw for a point.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors will host Maranatha tonight (Thursday, January 18).

Andrews Defeats Latta
The Andrews Yellow Jackets returned home on Tuesday with a 77-68 win over the Latta Viking in varsity basketball action played in Latta on Tuesday, January 16.
Andrews not only controlled the opening tip-off but also set the fast-paced action for the game.
The Latta Vikings kept the score close in the opening moments of the game. However, Andrews held an 18-12 lead after the first period of play. The Latta Vikings kept fighting until they had closed the gap to only one point, 27-26, in the waning moments of the first half. However, Andrews managed to have a 34-28 lead at halftime.
The third period of play was full of action as both teams ran up and down the court with Andrews coming out on top with a 57-46 lead after the third quarter.
With only 57.9 seconds remaining in the game, Latta was down by 5 points, 71-66.
Latta will host Johnsonville on Friday, January 19.

Lady Vikings Dominate Andrews
The Latta Lady Vikings dominated the Andrews Lady Yellow Jackets in a varsity basketball game played in Latta on Tuesday, January 16, with a 55-20 win.
Latta had a commanding lead, 11-2, after the first period of play. Latta’s defense held the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the second quarter.
In the third period of play, the Yellow Jackets gained some momentum as Latta substituted. Andrews connected for 12 points of offense in the third quarter and added another 6 points in the final quarter.
The Vikings’ Moya McDuffie led all scorers with 23 points while Riana Green added 14.
Johnson connected for 9 points for Latta, and Bursell hit for 5 points. Berry and Nowlin each garnered 2 points in the win.
Gary scored 14 points for Andrews while Sampson hit for 6 points. Latta is 5-5 and 3-1 in Region 7-2A.
Latta will host Johnsonville on Friday, January 19.

Wildcats Pick Up Win
Jykya Bell led all scorers with 21 points as the Dillon Lady Wildcats picked up a 56-41 win over Georgetown in Dillon on Tuesday, January 16.
After the first quarter of play, Dillon was up by 2 points, 9-7. By halftime, Dillon had increased the lead to 13 points, 32-19.
Georgetown cut into Dillon’s lead in the third quarter as Dillon’s lead was 9 points, 37-28.
Dillon’s Chyna Pouncey connected for 13 points in the win while Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon hit for 8 points. Andrianna Ervin and Shantazia Gordon each scored 5 points. A’Doshia Graves and Jayla Goodwin each garnered 2 points.
Desideria Anderson led Georgetown with 12 points followed by Keimore Smith with 10. Arian Lance contributed 7 points, and Ladasia Dennison hit for 6 points. Alisha Smith and T. Davis each placed 3 points on the scoreboard.
Dillon will host Loris on Friday, January 19, at 6:00 p.m.
