Dillon Wildcats vs. Red Springs
The Dillon Wildcats varsity boys basketball team lost 65-45 to Red Springs, N.C., on Saturday, December 23, in the third-place game at the Robeson County Shootout at UNC-Pembroke.
Zy’aire Charles led in scoring with 13 points followed by Justin Greene with 12 points.
Dillon Wildcats vs. Lumberton Pirates
Lumberton, N.C., handed the Dillon Wildcats a 71-48 loss at the Robeson County Shootout at Lumberton High on Friday, December 22.
Dillon was down by 2 points, 11-9, after the first period of play. At halftime, the Wildcats still trailed by 2 points, 28-26.
The Dillon Wildcats boys varsity basketball team found themselves down by 1 point at the end of 3 periods of play. However, in the fourth period of play the Wildcats were outscored 27-5.
Ty’Quan Porter led Dillon with 22 points followed by Ladson who connected for 9 points. Wright added 7 points. Green added 4 points, and Rogers and Charles each contributed 2 points while McCollum and Jeong each garnered a point.
Lumberton was led in scoring by Stephon Lloyd with 24 points, and Braylan Grice added 15. Jordan McNeill connected for 12 points, and Kwasheek Breeden sank 10 points. Britt and Chapman each had 3 points while Davis and Kelley each garnered 2 points.
Dillon Lady Wildcats vs. Fairmont Tornadoes
On Saturday, December 23, the Dillon Lady Wildcats handed the Fairmont Tornadoes a 56-43 loss in the third-place game at the Robeson County Shootout at UNC Pembroke.
Dillon’s Jykya Bell scored a game-high 23 points followed by A’doshia Graves, Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon, and Chyna Pouncey each with 8 points. Adrianna Ervin connected for 7 points and Jayla Goodwin garnered 2 points.
Dillon grabbed an early 14-6 lead after the first period of play and managed to hold Fairmont to 13 points in the second period of play while scoring 15 points to have a 10-point lead at halftime.
The Lady Tornadoes outscored the Lady Wildcats 18-13 in the third period of play to close the gap to 5 points. However, in the final period of play Dillon scored 14 points while holding Fairmont to 6 points.
Kiara Page led the Tornadoes with 23 points Mya Bellamy connected for 8 points followed by Krishay Moore with 6 points. Taytaina Gaddy, Jufaye Williams, and Angel McNeill each garnered 2 points.
Dillon Lady Wildcats vs. Lumberton Pirates
The Dillon Lady Wildcats varsity basketball team suffered a 60-48 loss to Lumberton, N.C., on Friday, December 22, at the Robeson County Shootout at Lumberton High School.
Dillon was down 17-10 after the first period of play. Lumberton continued to pour on the scoring and by halftime led 39-25.
In the third period of play Dillon was unable to get the offense going and was outscored 15-8. However, in the final period of play Dillon outscored Lumberton 15-6.
Jykya Bell led Dillon in scoring with 13 points followed by A’doshia Graves and Chyna Pouncey with 10 points each. Goodwin added 8 and McCrimmon connected for 3 points while Lane and Ervin each garnered 2 points.
Rachel O’Neal led Lumberton with 16 points followed by Madison Canady with 14 and Destiny Hardin with 12. London Thompson added 11 points while Simpson connected for 6 and Cade garnered a point.
The Lady Wildcats played Fairmont, N.C., at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the third-place game at UNC Pembroke.
Dillon Lady Wildcats vs. St. Pauls
The Dillon Lady Wildcats won 32-27 over St. Pauls of North Carolina in varsity basketball action in a game played at the Robeson County Shootout held at UNC Pembroke.
Ja’Rhonday McCrimmon scored a team-high 10 points to lead the Lady ‘Cats. Bell contributed 7 points while Irvin added 5. Lane was good for 4 points, and Goodwin added 3 while Pouncey garnered 2 points, and Graves added another point in the win.
Dillon Wildcats vs. St. Pauls
On Wednesday, December 20, the Dillon High School Wildcats claimed a 59-47 win over St. Pauls of North Carolina 59-47 at the Robeson County, North Carolina, Shootout held at UNC Pembroke.
Damari Ladson scored a game-high 20 points for the Wildcats. Ty’Quan Porter connected fro 13 points while Zy’Aire Charles added 11 points in the win for Dillon.
