The Latta Vikings suffered a 46-6 loss to Carvers Bay in varsity football action on Friday, October 27, in Latta to fall to 3-3 in region play.
Toronto King rushed for one touchdown and also returned a punt for a touchdown to help the Carvers Bay Bears to the win.
The Bears finished the season at 6-0 in region play.
Latta’s Dylan Carter completed 10 of 17 passes for 110 yards and rushed 4 times for 26 yards.
Jordan Hayes caught 1 pass for 27 yards while Kendall Moultrie grabbed 4 passes for 24 yards and 4 tackles for the Vikings.
Darius McCrae had 2 receptions for 37 yards and 2 tackles, and J. R. McClam caught 2 passes for 9 yards and had 1 tackle while Trey Anderson caught a pass for 7 yards for Latta and had 5 tackles.
Latta’s Brandon Hayes scored a touchdown. He carried the football 5 times for a total of 101 yards and had 5 tackles while Chandler Nolan carried for 17 yards on 3 carries and had 15 tackles.
Mikey Dotson had 8 tackles, and Chandler Mathews had 5 tackles for the Vikings while Jay Bailey added 3 for his team.
John Malcolm George tacked on 2 tackles, and Kiese Blake and Kaleb Bailey each had 1 tackle for Latta.
Latta will be on the road this Friday in playoff action against TBD.

The Dillon Wildcats had little trouble with the Lake City Panthers Friday night scoring both times they had the football in the first quarter on the way to a 42-0 shutout.
Jalen Williams, for the second consecutive week, rushed for over 100 yards to push his season’s total to 1,081 yards and his third quarter 11-yard scoring run gave him a team-leading 13 touchdowns for the year.
Corrian Wright scored the first two six-pointers of the game on a 3-yard run and later in the first quarter was on the receiving end of a 45-yard pass play from Jay Lester, who finished the night with 147 yards. The sophomore signal caller has accounted for 1,204 yards and 14 TDs this season.
The Dillon Nasty Cat defensive squad allowed only the Lake City offense four first downs in the first half and only one in the second. After Williams scored to start the third quarter and Wright ran another touchdown to give the Cats a 34-0 lead, the game was continued with a constantly running clock. The Panthers ran only six plays in the quarter and six more in the fourth with the only first down in the half coming with less than a minute left on the clock.
The defense registered five quarterback sacks to run the season’s total to 24 in that category with Shakai Jeanti leading the “Sack Pack” with 7. Eight players have at least one sack.
The Wildcats throttled the Panthers with 21 points in the third quarter, scoring that total just after intermission for the second straight week.
The Wildcats got excellent blocking from Damari Ladson, Damien McDaniel, Roderick McCrimmon and Dawson Dove to open gaping holes in the line for the final three touchdowns by Williams, Wright and Zareon Hayes. The defensive front had nine tackles for losses with Shamar McCollum and Jadarius McDaniel leading the way with eight and seven put downs .respectively.
Wright got the scoring off and running on an eleven play, 60 yard drive going the final 3 yards after Williams had reeled off 27 yards yards on six carries. With Ahmad Dawad hitting his first of six successful PAT attempts, the Cats enjoyed an early 7-0 lead. After holding Lake City to 3 total yards on their second offensive series, Dillon was back in the end zone on Lester’s 45 yard toss to Wright with only 42 seconds remaining in the first twelve minutes.
With a little over four minutes left in the second quarter, place kicker Dawad attempted his fourth field goal of the season from 28 yards out, but the kick sailed off to his left. After the defense held the Panthers on fourth down at the Wildcat 42, quarterback Lester went to work passing for three first downs and rushing the final 10 yards for a 21-0 lead at halftime.
Zareon Hayes got back in the thick of things after missing three games with a shoulder injury. Running at quarterback, he broke a 33-yard run for his first touchdown in as many games to score the sixth TD of the game with time running out in the third.
The Wildcats will be at home this coming week hosting the Strom Thurmond Rebels in the first game of the play-offs. “They could very well be 9-1 instead of 6-4 coming into the game,” said Coach Jackie Hayes. “They play in a pretty strong Region and had some injuries early, but they’re back to full strength. They have a big running back and the line play has improved quite a bit. We’re going to have our hands full.”
For that very reason, the Dillon fans need to come out in force for this first round game. Get here early and cheer the Cats on to victory. It will be the fifth time that the two teams meet with Dillon holding a 3-1 record…all three wins coming on Dillon turf.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors closed out the regular season on Friday, October 27, with a 48-29 win over Florence Christian in Dillon.
The Warriors ended the regular season with a 6-0 record in SCISA Class A and 8-2 season record in varsity football action.
Dillon Christian’s Diaz Alexander rushed 8 times for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns and completed 5 of 7 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.
The Warriors’s Demontez Alford carried the football 8 times for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Ian Patterson led the Warriors’ defense with 9 tackles.
With 11:25 remaining in the first quarter Demontez Alford scored on a 29-yard carry. Gage Bazemore converted the PAT to give Dillon Christian an early 7-0 lead.
Diaz Alexander tacked another 6 points on the scoreboard with 7:52 remaining in the first quarter to give the Warriors a 13-0 lead.
Florence Christian scored 6 points on a Zach Edwards’ 4-yard run. The PAT was good by Preston Miles to cut the Warriors lead to 6 points with 9:02 remaining in the first quarter.
With 8:14 remaining in the second quarter Jackson Wolfe (who caught 3 passes for 61 yards on the night) was on the receiving end of a 43-yard pass from Diaz Alexander. Bazemore’s kick was good, and Dillon Christian led again by 13 points with 8:14 remaining in the second quarter.
Florence Christian quickly tacked on a 6-point score with 6:56 remaining in the second quarter on a Zach Edwards’ 2-yard run. Preston Miles’ kick was good.
With 5:11 remaining in the second quarter, Demontez Alford scored from 13 yards out. The PAT was no good.
With 7:22 remaining in the third quarter, the Warriors’ Demontez Alford scampered in from 40 yards out. Bazemore’s PAT was good.
Dillon Christian School’s Diaz Alexander ran from 34 yards out to add 6 points to the total with 5:59 remaining in the third quarter. Bazemore’s PAT was good.
Florence Christian School got on the scoreboard again with a 11-yard run by Eli Brayboy with 3:35 remaining in the third quarter. Preston Miles’ PAT was good.
The Warriors’ quickly tacked on another 6 points with 1:10 remaining in the third quarter on a Garrett Collins’ 27-yard run. Bazemore’s PAT was good.
The final score of the game came in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run from Andre Atkins with 3:16 remaining. Florence Christian converted the 2-point play on a Edwards’ pass to Nate Hammonds.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors will host John Paul II in the first round SCISA Class A game on Friday, November 3.
