Debt Of Gratitude

Editor’s Note: Richard Schafer, Chairman of the Dillon County Board of Education, is the father of Brandon Schafer.

To The Editor:
First off, I am thankful to the good Lord my father is ok after his accident. I have a small rant to get off my chest.
I have held my tongue on this issue because a wise man once told me that it is better to listen before you speak. I do believe that some county council members owe the people and the Chairman of the Dillon County School District an apology. I have seen countless post in public forums, council meetings, and Social Media over the past two months that involved the belittlement of a man of honor and integrity. This man has served Dillon County for three decades free of charge and without regard of his own personal agenda. It is downright irresponsible, and frankly unforgettable, to have seen this take place by county officials. The taxpayers of Dillon County are the winners today, and owe this man, the county school board, and the Treasurer a debt of gratitude. It appears to me Dillon County will have to find other means to cover the mass mismanagement of county funds over the past few years.
