The Dillon 18 U Debs brought home the state title in softball on Tuesday, July 18, in the state tournament played in Marion by handing Sumter a 5-3 loss. This is the second year in a row that the Dillon Debs have captured this honor and now will compete in the World Series to be played in Louisiana beginning the latter part of next week.

Dillon’s Tori Grimsley added another win to her already successful career.
Dillon’s Erin Bailey tabbed one for a home run and the final score, 5-0, that Dillon would get in the game in the bottom of the third inning.
Sumter fought back and placed 3 runs of their own on the scoreboard but were unable to hand Dillon a loss.
Sumter’s #13, Posey, connected for a home run in the top of the fourth inning for the first score of the game. #10 hit one down the third base line for a single followed by #15 who hit one over the center fielder’s head for a single and advanced to second on the throw. Runners were on second and third with only one out. #4 hit a slow one to first for out 2 and a rbi.
In the top of the sixth inning, Sumter’s #11 got on base on a throwing error and ended up on second followed by #19, Pack, who walked. #12, Bell, hit a grounder to second and arrived safely at first. The bases were now loaded with 2 outs. #14 hit one up the middle for a single and a rbi to cut Dillon’s lead to 2. Dillon managed to get out of the inning with the bases loaded.
